Smile 2002 4runner

I'm new to these boards and thought I'd post a pic and say hi.

I drove this stock for the first 6 months before finally putting a little work into it.

It came with the locking rear differential which has proved helpful in both deep mud and snow. I removed the running boards and picked up a set of Bridgestone Dueler A/T tires. I also got the WAAG brushguard, as well as the PIAA driving/head lights and wipers. I think I'm about done with the mods now. (I say that now, but talk to me in another 6 months)

I am confused...your 4runner is 2002, right??

Rear locker was not available in 2002, nor 2001. I think the last year of the locker was 2000. In 2001 and up, Toyota incorporated 4-wheel traction control system on 4wd models and 2-wheel traction control on 2wd models. VSC (stability control) also became standard in 2001 and up.

The only time that you would have a rear locker on a 2002 if you/previous owner installed it after purchase. IN THEORY, this would work with the traction control, but i have heard ONLY 1 owner ever doing this.

Nice 4runner, BTW!

Well Thai, with all the technical posts of yours that I've read, I'm not surprised this one didn't slip by you!

I have my manual in front of me. It's actually a locking *center* differential - my mistake. It says that the VSC, which is actually vehicle skid control, can be disengaged and the differential locked with one button. Either way, I use it, and I love it.

Thanks! The tires are 265/75/16. It's the biggest tire size you can fit on a stock suspension without rubbing.
