'02 Water Xing at 100k!! Swamp Thing (rep. gville)
so for the past week ive been getting steadily closer to 100k, and today one of my friends called me and wanted to go out offroading. we get out there and its typical florida offroading, mud and water. i figure, well... this is one way to cross 100,000 miles.
anyways, here are some pics of my day, took 20$ to even find black paint after this mud hole day, got another good day or so of cleaning to get it back to where it needs to be!
the odo at 100k!!!
stuck
the swamp thing
5 minutes after we get there
and this is showing how to keep a good bowwave!

Wow..... in one photo I thought it was a winch but I realized it was acting more like a lawnmower!
Great pictures! Heck of a fun way to pass the 100k mark. Thanks for sharing.

haha, you should have seen the car wash bay after i left, all that grass that i picked up in the lake (well, most of it, atleast what i could grab) wound up on the ground, must have been a pile 2ft around by a foot high, i hate cleaning that stuff, but its part of it. the winch def. acted like a lawn mower so now i get to remove my skid plate and get all that grass that is caught in there.
when i say friends i mean two girls, it was one of their uncle's property, so they had machine's out there to pull me out incase i couldnt winch out. rule of thumb, dont bring two girls in the same truck.
how did i hit 100k so fast, hmm. i dont really know, it has been really fast, but i do drive from tampa to tallahassee, tallahassee to gainesville, gainesville to orlando visiting my friends that go to school there, and i do that alot. the truck also has been to tennessee twice and north carolina once. plus, i hate riding with people, it seems that no one knows how to drive, so i just wind up driving most the time.
oh, and its the best way to pass 100k, now i just have to hit 200k the same way. that water xing is something i would not recommend for people without a snorkel, it got a little deeper than when the pic was taken, i now have that grass on top of my engine block, how it got there i will never know, but ohwell...

hahah ditto. between the drive to different wheeling spots, my commute and being the person who drives everywhere all the time, i have racked up 52K in 2.5 years or so. i also have driven to NH, Maine, Canada, NYC, upstate NY... etc

im guessing it got washed up on top when your engine was under water.
do your belts squeal for a while after a crossing like that?

the drive to different wheelin spots down here though is like a minimum of an hour's drive on the interstate, really sucks with those mud terrains but well worth it in the long run.
my belts, nah. maybe its the florida heat, maybe ive just gotten used to it, but i didnt hear them whine at all after i crossed, and i crossed 3 times, would have gone a 4th time but it just kept getting deeper, and i have no desire to be stuck in deep water, the winch doesnt work underwater!!!

im surprised your belts dont squeal... even when i go through some pretty mild water they squeal for at least a few minutes here and there...
its not that the belts are bad either... ive changed them all in the last 6 months including timing!

hmm, i dont know, sometimes mine squeal, sometimes they dont, they didnt this time, and i know i was in som edeep water.
that must have been a pricey undertaking lee, perhaps im just deaf to it, or perhaps my "bow wave" keeps the water from coming in to get the belts wet, who knows, i just need to find out the cause for the rest of my strange unknown noises...
im ready to go back to tellico, i havent been offroading really since this time that i posted pictures since tellico, i think it destroyed my affection for mud and water, i still have grass underneath the 4runner, i have a pic of the car wash after i left that i will post later tonight, im sure whoever owns it isnt happy and im sure i will see signs that say "no muddy vehicle's" or something like that

Nice pics and it looked like fun but yes,you do pay the price in cleanup time. I went mudding and I spent over an hour getting underneath the truck with a hose and really cleaning it all out and then I had to deal with the mess in the driveway which I spent another half hour hosing off the sand into the gutter.

yeah, clean up time is a "female dog", but it is part of it. when i still lived in tampa i would just take a sprinkler and set it under the truck and leave it over night... did the trick... too bad i dont have a hose or sprinkler up here!!! anyways, here are two more pics that i have...
grass in the engine bay..... yay!! and yes, i did the deckplate mod BEFORE i got the snorkel, and i know i should have painted it black but who cares?
a nice entrance to the lake/mudhole shot
