Im looking at some lifts for my 4runner. Currently i have my eye on a 3" lift. Is it hard to install this kind of lift?

Most lifts are the same to install. My brother installs mine. I'm more of "tool control". Lol

Are you going to add some beefier tires?

In time probably. I actually just got a spare set of tires and wheels for off roading purposes only. It's a DD so I'd like to get as much MPG as possible.
I kept 265's on my Fj, even with a 3" lift.

What does it mean when you say "265's"?

Enough to get me by. I pretty much do all myself. With the exception of recruiting my brothers help. This is my 2nd 4x4 so I'm knowledge when it comes to options and choices. Just limited on actual installation of suspension and engine stuff.

I get by... lol...

Here's the fj I had prior to my 4Runner. Stryker the 4runner-uploadfromtaptalk1438554256553-jpg

So i have a stock 4runner. Im thinking about buying a 3" lift for it. After that ill take it off roading. When did you decide to install a stage 2 on your car?

The 4 runner is capable of off roading regardless of a lift. You just have to learn what it's capabilities are. Mine is still stock, I took it and pretty much maxed out on its capabilities this weekend.
For starters, make sure you go with a group, and have a spotter to get you through tight spots. I ended up needing one and my passenger tried but just couldn't get me through a few spots. I ended up getting assistance from a jeep group. Haha, good times!
I think I'll feel a little more comfortable once I get the lift installed. Another thing to think of is armor. Link armore, shock armor, lower control arm armor, and a diff skid will protect you until a lift is installed.
If you have the $, get a complete underbelly skid kit. Different vendors sell them. But it's a catch 22, with a lift you usually clear all the obstacles so skids aren't really needed (peace of mind really), without a lift- they are well worth it.
And they're different types and brands of lifts. Just deciding which one is the hard part. Stryker the 4runner
