03' 4Runner Limited = )

I took some quick pics of some of the changes I made. I'll take some better ones of the truck next time it's really dirty or clean!

New Toyo Open Country A/Ts

265/70/17 - what an amazing difference over the stock Dunlops!!

Pitstop in the Great Barrington area yesterday after a great ride in the Bershires. Pioneer HU and the Magellan Sprot Tracker Pro shown.

Valentine1 on the glass. 2 radar traps avoided yesterday!! I love it!

Concealed display for the V1 and the Bel laser jammer below.

That's it! Enjoy

I found the brand Toyo when I bought some for my little car, I liked them so much, I replaced them with the same tire when they wore out. I have a question, since you went with a 265/70R17 instead of the 265/65R17 that was standard, how is the clearance, how much does it affect speedometer error and does it effect anything else?

By the way, nice 4Runner.;)

The clearance to the well toward the rear of the tire is close (when the well is turned fully) but passes. It makes about 2 MPH difference at 60. They look freakin' huge too!

Here's a link for the formal explanation.

Thanks for the kind words!

Yep, it sure is.

The traction and skid control are much more... relaxed with better tires. I was surprised at the difference. I used the downhill assist once and it does work but is noisy & somewhat unnerving. But I guess the designed it to be that way, no damage done.

I did read that thread Thai before I bought them. I was concerned about it but as long as I put the spare on the front (and switch it around if the flat in on the rear) I'd be okay(?) until I repaired the tire. I could also pull the ABS fuse disabling the control systems.
BTW - is that fuse under the hood or under the dash. Car and Driver removed this fuse to test the 4R on the skid pad; too much interference with it on.

I'll take a couple good side shots when I get home from work tonight!

Neech,

With the sophisticated integration of ABS, VSC, ATRAC, Brake Assist, DAC, i would be very hesitant at pulling anything to turn it off. I don't know where the fuse is on the '03 4Runners.

Just be careful when you pull the fuses! In my opinion, i would not do it.

Looking forward to your side shots!

Okay, click here

There's lots to choose from and all thumbnails click to a high res photos. Photos do not represent well, of course, when it comes to depth. I noticed some things look closer than they actually are so bear that in mind.

Enjoy!

Back on the subject of pulling the fuse. I would only do so if having the odd sized spare on caused problems with those systems.

Great looking 4Runner!

I can tell thats it the 70 vrs the 65 series on your 4Runner. Looks much better!

SO did that lift your 4Runner at all...anything noticable?

How much taller are you tires now compared to before?

Thanks for the pictures....

Matt

4x4,

With the increase, Neech's 4Runner should gain about 0.5" of true ground clearance...that is, everything is 0.5" higher.

it looks great I have a 03 black one myself. Next upgrade is new tires and rims. Im gonna go with that size tire but upgrade to a 18" rim. I think that would be a perfect match, i like chrom rims so much better.

I really like these they are american racing PIRANHAs.
