Oh hell yeah. You deserve some major respect! Kick ass 4R!

If you remove the spacers, the wheels will tck back in the wheel wells which means dorky status my 0.02 cents..

I like the mods! I have a blizzard pearl limited. How do we get mud flaps and running boards on it! Seriously anyone have any ideas?

Also, I took the antenna off it looks dumb! Thinking of putting on a small one.

Harper 7,

Can you tell me how the 4 runner compares to the FJ? I'm about to order a 4Runner trail and have not driven. I've driven my buddies FJ a lot. I like it. Not crazy about blind spots. Think the 4 runner with nav and bluetooth and more adjustable and comfortable seats would be better. Plus 4 doors and more 4x4 options.

What are you thoughts? am I crazy to buy with out driving? just none around here in SC.

thanks

I ordered my 4R without a test drive and never looked back. I also came from an 09 FJ. Apples to oranges comparison. Each has their + & -. I liked my FJ for what it was, like the comfort, size and technology of the 4R better.

Welcome to the forum.....I have never driven a FJ as I need the 4 doors so I couldn't give you a good comparison on them. I think there are a couple of members here that just traded in their FJ's for 5TH's so you might want start a new thread asking how they compare.

I definitely would find a 5th Gen. to test drive before you buy one. There are a couple of guys on here that ordered and bought one before test driving and they are the only ones that don't like theirs. I love mine.

Hint....They were chrome. The only thing that was actual real chromed steel and not chrome painted plastic.

I also ordered a front 2 inch spacer lift kit to level it out and a Spidertrax spacer kit to bring the wheels out more. I have a set of 17inch FJ wheels to go on already but waiting to see how big of tire I can put on it. I'm shooting for 285/70/17 BFG AT KO's.

wow, all i got to do now is get a creditcard..build up good credit, finish college, get a job that pays good, and then i will be able to buy one! maybe by then they will have the 6th gen 4runner , nice ride though. looks good but if that was me i would of left the racks on there, it makes the car look sporty

I bought mine back in October and didn't get to pick it up until Christmas and never test drove one.

I love it. The ride is VERY smooth and handles bumps amazingly. It rarely feels that truck like until you take it into places that require trucks.

hey sandcrawler, so far they are working out great. The sidewalls are a little stiffer on load range E tires as they have 2 extra plies so they are probably not for everybody.
Drives like a truck!!!Love it!!

So, can anyone name a few good A/T tires that are available in size 275/70/17 besides the BFGs? I'm not opposed to the BFGs, but I'd like to know what my options are.

Looking on TireRack.com, it seems like the only other A/Ts availale are the milder Goodyears. The only Goodyear that catches my eye are the new DuraTracs, and I haven't see them listed in 275s anywhere.

I'm loving my new Trail Edition... makes wanna drive places just to drive places... but the Duelers that came on it are just... girlie. I had Dueler Revos on my Tacoma and those were AWESOME... but alas... not available in 275/70/17.

get the 285/70 17 duratracs and hope they fit.

I'm in same boat wanna more aggressive looking tread and possilbly bigger. 275 would be ideal. But not many make em.

I like the Revo 2's. Did you have the Revo I? How did they do on the Highway/road? Did they have an off road appeal in person? only seen pics. Almost thinking the dura tracs are to mud looking. What about the Nitto terra grappler AT?

I'm leaning toward Revo2s.

I'm am too confident that the 285s would rub, or I would. I don't plan on a lift anytime soon, and I wanna keep my T.E. wheels.

I had the Revo 1... I think (got them about 3-4 years ago). They didn't look as agressive as the BFGs, but they were way quieter, and better in the rain and snow. In fact they were quieter than the crappy Dunlops that my Tacoma came with. Handled like a cat on the road... great tires. Wore well too, I put 50,000 miles on them and they still had life left. I couldn't tell you what the difference between the I and the II is though... look the same to me.

Where is a good place online to look at Nittos? Tirerack doesn't seem to have them.

Thanks,

~ Ryan

Since you took all of the chrome out of your truck, are you planning to change the headlights and taillights to the TE ones to keep the de-chrome stance?
I think they look better that the chrome ones. Also will like to see Toyota offering a roof rack delete kit with the appropiate covers, etc.
Like what you have done with you T4R.

[QUOTE=harper7;483723]Well ,I did a few more mods over the last week with the windows getting tinted today. I went with Huper Optik 30(the darkest by law here in Texas) for the side windows and a 6 inch strip of Lumar limo tint across the the top of the windshield on the inside where the 4th's were factory tinted. Much better now!

Over last weekend I installed my Toytec spacers in the front. They are 1 inch cnc'd aluminum spacers that go on top of the springs. You can see it in the 3rd pic.I painted them flat black before the install to blend in better. They gave me a little over a 1 3/4 inch lift in the front. I now measure 37 inches in the front and. 37 1/4 in the rear. Measured from the center of the fender lip down. The pics are a little decieving as my driveway is on a slant.

Harper7... I'm not familia with spacer or any lift kits. I would like to level the front of my Trail and try to fit 285-70-17 on it. Do you think they would rub? your tires may be a tad beefer than the Revo 2s i'm looking at. All tires have slightly different specs.

Does the spacer kit effect anything else? any draw backs?
