This is the 3rd or 4th thread for dogs but the others are a bit outdated so we need an updated thread so this will do.

Here is Maverick, German Shepherd, almost 19 months old.
The first day Mav and the late Hal met.
Mav guarding the 4runner.

Izzy has certainly mellowed but she still requires a lot of activity every day. During the summer I'll ride my bike and she'll run next to me and we'll go about 3 miles doing 15-20 mph most of the way. We get back and she'll still be ready to go. It's crazy. It makes her an excellent hunter though!
She is a great dog and I wouldn't trade her for anything, but you certainly have to appreciate the positive aspects to look past the negatives of this breed. The energy level and inquisitiveness is hard to contend with sometimes. And their intelligence can certainly work against you. I have to dead bolt doors we don't want her to open because she can and will open it.

That's similar to the labs. The labs are very smart but not quite so clever... Closed doors usually stay that way.

I don't know what labs you've been around. My kids are a little too clever. I have to think ahead and try to be smarter than my dogs, cause they'll pull some McGuyver type stuff. Just sayin.

It can happen... My Lab Boxer wouldn't dream of doing something wrong and my Yellow is OCD on the ball. All she wants to do is please you so you'll make the ball go
I'm very fortunate and Bryan is 6.5 and the Yellow is 9 so they are mature, good dogs. Now that I think about it they were a handful in the day...

I suppose I should mention that my kids aren't bad. As a matter of fact they are far from it. Got a lot of energy, but that's puppies. The crazy McGuyver stuff isn't necessarily bad either, but it definitely makes you look at stuff they've done and ask "How in the hell?"

.. nope, just Frontline. you can see it spiking his fur at the withers..
he just struck that pose after a treatment and my wife, the artistically gifted one was lucky enough to capture the image.

Here's my boy Jake. He's a Labrador Retriever / Siberian Husky mix. I found him online in a shelter in Wedowee, AL. Drove out that weekend to get him and back (24 hours of driving in a 25 hour period).
I know we are all pretty biased, but I think it's fact that Jake is the best dog in the world. He seriously well behaved, and very smart. Haven't met a person that didn't love him.
January 24, 2008 (2 months old)
This is how much he's changed...unreal
And this was a few months ago.
If those aren't enough...

He sure is a good looking pup. I suppose it's cause I'm a Lab guy, and usually I'm a purebred kinda guy but I really like the looks of Jake.
