bottom of your 4th gen 4runner

How many of you have seen the undercarriage of your 4th gen 4Runner?

This was a SR5 V8 4x4 at the dealership...it was on special ramp.

In one of the photos, you can see my 4Runner in the background...

I've seen mine a lot
that is the V6, you can see the cross exhaust coming down behind the cross member
The V8 goes underneath the tranny pan

wish mine looked that nice underneath still

Absolutely! I always try to take big rocks on the passenger side if possible. The leading edge of my muffler has the dents to prove it.

Yes, I'm under my Runner all the time. If you off road, you should check under there after every major trip. My 3" lift makes it nice because I can roll all the way from one side to the other on my garage creeper with out jacking it up.

Sometimes I just roll under there and look around just for the heck of it. I like to admire good art work.

after looking at the pics again I can deduce it is a
SE V6 4WD
SE tire white side out
V6 exhaust crosspipe under the transfer case and not transmission
4WD transfer case

Great pics. I was just under mine for the first time yesterday;) I was also poking around in my engine bay. I am amazed at how much stuff is in this truck and how it is arranged.

Thanks.

Can't argue on the V8/V6 thing...couldn't see the front grill on this 4Runner. But I thought it had a V8 because of the big, beefy hitch. The V6 hitch is not as big as the V8s.

But as for the SE/SR5...it is definitely an SR5. I know because it had the SR5 badge on the side (should have taken a photo) and it had the optional 17' SR5 wheels...even though it had Dunlop tires. Also, the tires did not have raised white lettering, it was blacked out.

I guess some of the SR5 around here come with Dunlops...this is the third one I've seen. A guy at work has a 05 SR5...he got the 17' optional wheels...it came with Dunlops (black side wall)..

Yup, I've seen mine quite a bit not because I'm checking for stuff when offroading, but because I clean the damn thing quite a bit. Thanks for posting pictures though, pretty interesting to see the differences between 4WD models and 2WD models.

Anybody else noticed the muffler has "V6" labeled on it?

Yep your right not SE. The one shot with the muffler shows the side of the frame and no XREAS line. Should have checked that as well

was looking for pics of the under-carriage of our 4th gen rigs. Came across this thread. GODDAMN I'd give anything to have my chassis look like this again.

My 2004 still looks like this. No kidding. Never seen salt snow or much rain it's entire life. Always been fluid filmed.
