Very cool.

We never get the coolest Toyota trucks over here.

I was debating on doing a 1KZ-TE swap for a while, even had the engine, but then I decided I like the 5VZ-FE too much.

Looks like you have a lot of fun on your truck.

I didn't know there was much in the way of offroad opportunities in Norway!

Well, I can imagine that conditions for offroading are vast in the US. But I work in the Norwegian Army, and I can assure you that in our field training areas, there are opportunities.

No problem at all. My 1-KZTE turbo/intercooler w/3inch exhaust gives me approximately 450-500 nM, so it works fine. Plenty of power Very useful in winter conditions, heavy offroad-driving and towing.

For us non-metric people that is roughly 332-369 ft. lb. of torque. Nice!!

Awesome!

4.88 or 5.29 gears? Ever break drive-train components or is it pretty reliable? Do you have to be extra gentle or do you just hammer it

Very cool truck man, this thread caught my eye cause my brother lives in Bodo. He works as a civilian for the Norwegian Air Force. I've been over there several times. Absolutely beautiful country and from what little ive seen there are lots of off road opportunities there. Now, where can i get a howitzer to tow around like that.

4,56..
I've had a full overhaul and repair of the left rear axle because of general wear. But I haven't broken anything yet, despite of relatively heavy offroad-driving from time to time. Toyota trucks are awesome that way. They endure the toughest of driving.

I prefer to use technique when I drive. I work in the army, and have been through several driving courses with different army vehicles. I transfer the knowledge from these courses over to driving my 4-Runner. So the answer to your question is no, I don't "hammer" it. I use the engine power when I really need it. Otherwise: Technique, technique and some more technique.
