Man that's so awesome, it looks like a police car with all the blue lights.

Here are some other Law enforcement/ fire rescue 4Runner's.

ksneubec,

Do you have any pictures of how your lights are all wired up? What kind of switches did you use to turn on the lights? I have a slimlighter wired up to the back of my 07' and this past weekend I installed (2) TIR3's right behind the front grille. I used the same kind of switches for the for both lights and I installed a momentary button to change patterns on the TIR3's. I now have two of the same switches (like the one to the left) and the momentary button is right underneath the alarm light. I haven't taken any pictures of the front grille yet but I have some pictures of the back. My tint is a bit dark but I love the fact that I could always lower the back window if I had to during the daytime.

No pics of the wires, but I'm actually going to rewire some parts of the truck as I have new lights to install, so I can get some photos soon. I use a two Touchtek VI control panels to control the lights- one turns them all on and on, the other controls the arrowbar and alley/takedown functions on the lightbar. While the panel itself has been moved, there is a photo of it on page three of this thread. I'll update it when I get a chance.

I like the touchtek control panel because it has a master switch function which powers all the lights off and on sequentially, or you can turn each one on individually as well.

Let me know if you have any more questions. As I said, I'll hopefully get those new lights in with updated photos in a week or so.

The lights that I installed are made by Whelen. The light in the back is a "Slimlighter" and the ones that I have in the front (which I haven't taken a picture of..yet) are "TIR3" lights. The slimlight was about $120 and the TIR3's are about $50 each. All of my lights are hard wired into the dash switches ($6 each). Also, don't forget to use some fuses.

I got these off of ebay but I'm sure someone else could suggest other sites which are better and probably have more selection.

Galls is way more expensive than most of the other sites out there. Do a search for "emergency lights" and you'll find many of the others- www.sirennet.com, www.strobesnmore.com, etc. Just be sure to use them legally- cops will quickly arrest you for impersonating a police officer if you get caught using them the wrong way.

Thanks for the info...

Trust me they won't be abused...

Mostly for show, and when I am helping volunteer for the city and various charitble organizations or off road, etc... ...

But never for on road use...

I also only want four lights.. one in each turn signal and then one in each rear reflector (where most do the rear fog mod)..

Nothing elaborate, and no blues or reds in the front, etc..

A couple of my buddies and I volunteer for a dirt bike club and when on the course we have to be visible. They don't let me on the course in my T4R because I have no lights... By buddies F350 and F250's are decked out with lights and off-road lights, etc... as they do bike recovery on the course, I will merely be a look out vehicle...

Again thanks for all of the help...

Argo-

What I would suggest is this- get 4 strobe tubes called Hide a ways, and put two up front and two in the rear. They will connect to a strobe control unit that will control the flash patterns and the wattage going to each light. If you can afford them, Whelen is making a cool light that will actually replace your factory bulbs- you pull out a turn signal bulb and put this in the socket. When you drive normally, it will act as a normal turn signal (and brake light, if that is the light you replace). But when you activate your emergency lights, they will flash like strobes (they are LEDs). They are about $400 a pair though

Let me know if you have any questions. I may actually have 2 used strobe tubes and a strobe controller if you want them.

Ksneubec,

Your used ones may work better...

$400 Geez.. that's a lot for something that I may only use once every couple months, if that...

I just need to be visible when on the hill....

Thank you for the willingness to help and answer questions..

I will have some... When I signed up for this, I didn't know I would have to add lights to my vehicle, etc..

More pictures.....

I didn't want the lights "all up in da grille", so decided not to squeeze them thru the grille openings. I made these brackets ($10) which I think work pretty well. The lights sit right behind the grille and have enough space that they won't get smashed when I close the hood. The momentary switch ($3) changes the flash patterns. The switch on the left works the slimlighter and the switch on the right works the grille lights.
