1986 Toyota 4Runner
History Was a two owner truck, originally bought at Rick O' Neal Toyota in Safford, North Carolina. It was very well taken care of it's whole life. I got it from a friend who's wife and sister in-law both drove it through high school and college. It had 333,000 miles on the odometer when I got it. My friend and I did a trade, my '89 4Runner V6, for his '86 4Runner, because "nothing electrical worked on it" , and it was bound to be torn down and built into a trail truck, which I didn't want to see. I quickly found out it had severely corroded wires from the battery, I swapped them out and now it runs great, I have had it on the road since April 1st 2011, and have slowly been restoring it, piece by piece, to what it was back in 1986.
Exterior

Has the original specially fitted aluminum wheels, an '89 hood, cowl, removable topper and tailgate. Everything else is original, just the way I like it.

Interior

It is the non SR5 grey interior, it had vinyl seats up front and a vinyl one piece bench in the back, with airplane style lap belts. I found out that it was sent over to Florida as a truck, and then Joyserv Co. put in a light blue carpet and made the rear bench which was two pieces of plywood with foam, and vinyl stretched over top. Now it has red SR5 sport seats out of my old '89 4Runner front and rear, which are much more comfortable for long trips.

In-CarEntertainment
I have a modern... Dual AM/FM radio with turn dials and a cassette player, which feeds power to two Pioneer tweeters mounted up front. Basic, but nothing to fault with it, and I like listening to my 22RE; it's clitter clatter sounds better then any radio station.

Under the Hood

Has the original 1986 22RE, it has been rebuilt with a new head, and timing chain components. No power adders, just the 90 something hp it was designed to produce. Soon will have a 22RE performance rocker arm assembly for added lubrication.

Suspension
Factory suspension set up up front, with new steering, and ball joints, with Old Man Emu shocks at the four corners. It has a super stiff leaf pack in the back that was in my '89 4Runner that was designed for heavy loads, the springs leveled out the back, and gave it a bone jarring ride.... great for the back.

Wheels and Tires

The wheels are special edition wheels installed by Joyserv Co. and they are wrapped with 225/75/R15 BFGoodrich Long Trail T/A's. My spare set of tires are General Grabber AW's 235/75/R15 on 1988 Toyota chrome steel wheels.
