04 4 Runner rear window defroster

A few months ago I did some battery terminal cleaning and discovered that I needed to reset all my electric windows to get them activated, this included the rear window wipers and washer fluid which I did a complete cycle of all the electric windows and everything seemed good. It was summer so I couldn't test the rear window defroster. Now that it's winter, I discovered that only the top 7 lines of rear window defroster works and the bottom 7 don't seem to be working at all. After using the rear window defroster, when I get into the back seat area, I can smell a slight odor of overheated electrical. Any ideas of how to fix this problem, a relay, wiring, or window defroster grid problem?
