That sucks, I believe he is a vendor here as well as a 4runner owner and typically does good fair business from what I've seen.

Good luck with your issue!

I used to defend Jason B... but this topic has gotten really old.

He's a drop shipper, so he doesn't actually have those products on hand, he is just a middleman for other companies/warehouses. His prices are outrageous. He makes a profit by overpricing cheap stuff, most of the products he sells are coming from China and Hong Kong.

He has had some good products before, like the newer Jaos style spoiler. Sure wanted one really bad, but couldn't justify the price he was asking. My dealings with him seemed pleasant, but he is the epitome of a salesman. No, I don't want to spend $30 on some dim China stealth incandescent light bulbs, or $80 on some clear lenses...

Couple the upselling and the bad reviews, it's understandable why he has a bad reputation. There have been a few threads started by disappointed Burtman Industries customers about items he's delayed for months. Anyone remember the door sills?

At first, I appreciated another person making an honest living and providing us with an array of aftermarket parts. Thanks to OP of this thread, plus other online reviews, he won't be seeing a dime of my hard earned money.

I guess most of you are asking yourself “How’s the quality and fit, are they really worth the price?” Well, considering I ordered them on March 2nd you would think I would know by now but alas I am still waiting. I called to check on the order early last week and was told they had to ship them in and they would be here on Friday the 18th. I’ll update you when I do actually get them but needless to say, if you want to order something from Burtman, make sure you give yourself a good month before you actually want the product. I hope other people have had better experiences but mine has started off pretty poor.

I have purchased both, they are the exact same. I was able to buy the eBay ones for about a third of the price and they went bad. Am I to be expecting the same from yours? What if they do go bad? I didn't get a receipt or anything besides an email confirmation with the purchase. I guess only time will tell.

He didn't let me return them also but he did give me some stuff for a discounted price (less than $50 worth though so still wasted lots of $).

His stuff is overpriced but yeah I guess some stuff you can't get anywhere else like the Jaos Spoiler (which I have and am happy with)

i bought his basic carbon fiber kit 2 months ago, but 5 pieces were excluded. i called him twice and e-mailed many times., but he kept giving me different stories such as the factory just went out of business, etc. in addition, his communication is very poor and slow.

i can only use 6 pieces because the rest fits like crap and won't cover the entire surface.

the most disappointing purchase was the stainless door sills. The thing that really bothers me is how badly misrepresented these are on the Burtman website. And I quote.....

"Unlike others, these sills are stamped out of a metal press machine with a custom sized plate. This is what makes these sills special. By this process, the edges are folded over smooth and rounded, no 3M tape is visible from the edges, (it's recessed), and the logo is sandblasted into the metal, not stuck on. This process is more expensive, and the end result gives a very finished look".

The above statement, taken directly from the Burtman web site is 100% false, they are dead nuts flat and will stick up off the sill surface the thickness of the 3M tape, there is no "smooth and rounded" anything on these door sills. Couple this misrepresentation with the fact they took a month to arrive, and were shipped ground UPS when the product page clearly states they ship Next Day Air at no added cost and you have the recipe for poor customer service.

Possible Issues W/Burtman Industries

I have always read positive feedback re doing business w/Jason Burtman's business. I know he helps sponsor ($$$) some of these forums. I just recently purchased my first from him. I'm not satisfied w/his and his supplier's advertising and then follow through of the order which is decidedly different than the web advertising; it's misleading/misrepresenting.

While I was in Seattle yesterday there was a friendly message on my answering machine from Jason Burtman. He stated that the supplier was still working on my centerpiece and hopefully it would be here next week.

By gawd, they (the supplier- B & I) must have had to form an expedition, go to Africa by peddle boat, find just the right plastic African Rosewood Faux tree, melt it down, make sure the grain goes the exact opposite of the real Rose Wood it will be resting next to, transport it to the port by coolie rickshaw, take a slow boat from China steamer back from Africa, get stuck in US Customs cuz someone's name was on the terrorist watch list, get stuck in rush hour traffic, have to take a road construction detour, get to the US post office but it was late Saturday afternoon, etc., etc., adinfinitum...

But hopefully next week.

I was actually saving up for the JAOS spoiler and purchasing it off of Jason Burtman but after reading all of these reviews, kinda 2nd guessing it. I'm actually surprised though, been on the Toyota forums before Burtman Industries started up and everyone raved about his customer service and products....hopefully he chimes in!

Sadly I've known business people like this in the past (acquainted with some early iPod/iPhone 3rd party product developers/suppliers/distributors) - many years ago.

They would have a popular product/website that would have a good business, but not be a good businessman/woman - and within a couple of years have blown a great opportunity.

They go for the easy bucks, mark up some cheap chinese products, and get a bunch of one time customers and then go out of business. Easy, unethical way to make some short term money.

They never actually used their real names on the business though….

I am not defending Jason. I bought stuffs from him 6 yrs ago and didn't have any problem. Wow, customer service been down that bad.
It is not right to take people's money then run. Hopefully, Jason can share his side of story.

I really didn't want to read stuff like this. I really want his spoiler. You guys are making me a little hesitant now. Are there any complaints with the spoiler other than it takes a while to ship?

Hate to kick this back up to the top, but I ordered an exhaust on 7/16/12 and then of course saw this thread the next day.

I have not received a product and several emails and phone messages have gone unanswered.

The last emailed threatened a charge back through the credit card company and I still haven't received a word back.

Started the charge back process today.

I have actually read a few reports of this type of thing after I ordered my Gibson exhaust and was worried I would experience the same thing. I emailed to find out the status because I had never received a tracking number. I didn't get a response so I called him and spoke to him. He put me on hold and called Gibson, and it turned out the exhaust was being made and would ship out the next week. Once it shipped, he emailed me the tracking information and I received the exhaust a few days after the estimated delivery. Overall, I can't really complain about my experience with Burtman Industries. This was recently too, roughly 5 months ago.

I really hope that my exhaust just shows up at the house one day. I don't know how you got him on the phone, I have called several times without a call back.

I like some of the jaos stuff he has, but I could never justify the money he was asking when some ebay vendors were $100 cheaper.
