KiloVictor did you ever get the techstream to work? I am trying to run techstream on a windows 8 computer and I am having problems. I have run through the installation instructions multiple times. The xhorse update utility is indicating that the mini vci is connected, but if I click "connect to vehicle" in the techstream program it immediately comes up with unable to connect to VIM. This is strange because I installed techstream on my windows 7 computer and it works great. The difference is that when I run it on the windows 7 computer, after pressing "connect to vehicle" the vehicle connection wizard will come up, but on the windows 8 computer it just goes straight to "unable to connect to VIM" screen. I think it might have to do with the driver or the MVCI itself, because I did not have to update the driver on the windows 8 computer. When I installed on the Windows 7 computer I installed the driver from the xhorse folder. When I installed on the Windows 8 computer the device manager said it already had the most recent drivers? Anybody have any ideas?

Just got my MINI-VCI J2534 cable from Ebay for $20 yesterday. Loaded the Techstream program and installed the drivers last night on my Win Pro 7 64bit and had some fun today. Everything works perfectly, changed Auto Headlight settings, lock functions, and even did a Zero Point Calibration. FYI, if you have a dealer installed alarm (KARR with the blue blinking light under the driver side) DO NOT set your truck to unlock all doors with 1 push on the wireless remote. If you want to do this and you have this alarm you need to rewire the deactivation wire on the alarm unit to use another door besides the driver door. 1 push unlock will unlock all doors but not send a single signal to the driver door, which in turn will not shut off the alarm. Trust me on this, I sat in the garage (horn blaring) trying everything until I reran Techstream and set it back to 2 pushes to unlock everything. On a scale of 1-10, ease of install on my computer = 5-6 (I have the link to what I followed if anybody is interested), use on vehicle= 2. Final opinion, worth $20 especially the newer your vehicle is, the more you can play with and see if it works for you without having to pay the Stealer to change something that we should all be able to do for free because we bought this vehicle, thus we bought the right. (MY $.02)

Sounds like you did some troubleshooting, so you probably made sure this was right, but...

I did the install in my Windows 7 machine last night, and the Techstream software found the cable, etc., but it was unable to connect to VIM when I plugged into the truck. Turns out I the directory for the driver I had created was not the same as in the original instructions, so it wasn't able to access the drivers as it didn't match what was in the registry entry. (SOme of the file names were different on the CD I received with my cable, so I had to make various name changes throughout the installation process for everything to work.) Once I made sure the folder was titled the same as the registry entry, I was able to connect without a problem.

Just one more detail to check - good luck if you're still trying!

I am also having problems with connecting to VIM

I started down the path of installing via these instructions, but I get stuck at "Run the FirmwareUpdateTool.exe"

I do not have that file!!

I am trying to do a 0 calibration for my new steering rack and ECM on a 2008 RX400h.

Would it be safe for me to drive to the dealer to have them perform this? I have about had it with this crap chinese software hack.

Windows 10?

I don't see it listed, but does anyone have Techstream working under Windows 10, preferably x64? It works flawlessly on my Win7 x64 box, but I want to make sure to block the upgrade if it's going to give me problems.

I do. In fact have had it for a few weeks and just installed it today and reset several parameters (drivers seat belt chime, lights stay on duration, etc..).

I am running version 10.20.030 which apparently is very recent. The install is a little hokey but I got it working after about an hour on my new Win10 machine.

Here is the link to the software from the guy I bought the cable from (who is in Bulgaria of all places): https://ln.sync.com/dl/8ddb4eaf0#wr8...gcdrh-uihkntk2

I'll warn you Norton (if you use it) will cage some of the files because they don't have a reputation score.

Awesome! Since the install isn't that difficult, and I have the resources to do so, I guess I will let my current machine upgrade to Windows 10 and see what happens. If I have to wipe it, no worries.

Thanks!
