Engine swap into ,94 4runner

I,ve got a '94 4runner and it has just clocked up 400,000km. I am looking to swap out the original 3.0 lt V6 for a 4.0 lt V6 out of a Hilux or Prado. Has any one out there done this and is it succesful.

Not a common swap for the 2nd gen, but anythings possible with the right skill set.

The common swaps are the 3.4 swap and a chevy 4.3 swap.

Eww... a Chevy 4.3L? I'd rather have the 3.4L, that 4.3L was a piss poor engine in my old S10.

Do let us know if you manage to squeeze the 4.0L in the 2nd gen though! I alway had this idea of shoving of 4.0L Manual drive train out of an FJ into a old 80's Toyota Pick-Up.

Haven't heard anything of the 4.3 lt Chev motor here in Oz, Would love to go 5.7 lt Chev. We can get ADR approved conversion kit, (Made in Brisbane, Qld.) but that creates so many other issues, it gets too complicated. I would not have thought that the 4.0 lt would be that much bigger than the 3.0 lt. I am not to worried if I have to change the gearbox either. Currently, it's fitted with the late 5 sp. manual box. I figgured it has to be easier to do a complete transplant than try to mix and match.
