Oh too late you can't go back. Only thing your going to have is memories when your old and you have dementia...
Both my parents worked when I was growing up. My mom made more then my dad. She spent every penny she made while my father saved as much as he could while giving us a good life. They are both retired now. My mom is broke and my dad is vacationing in another country. Which one will you be?

The Federal graduated tax rates top out at 37% (for 2018 on taxable income in excess of $500,000 (single) or $600,000 (married filing jointly)). The Kansas rate tops out at 5.2%. I think you need to find a new accountant.

And the states? Not to mention how many times one gets taxed on the same dollar. Can anyone even list all the taxes we pay?

A car has two types of cost. Operation and maintenance are one. Capital cost is the other.

Capital cost is how much it depreciates while you own it. Plus interest...even if you pay cash, because that cash isn't invested.

If you buy a new $38k car and sell it for $20k in three years to buy another, your capital cost was $500 a month plus interest on the $38k. About another $100 a month ( which declines each month). Those costs apply whether you pay cash, finance it or lease it.

If you pay $38k for a car and sell it for $8k 15 years later, it only cost you $166 a month plus the interest.

The key to spending less on cars over time is how long you keep them. Not whether you pay cash or borrow or lease.

And, of course, the numbers make vastly more sense if you buy used since the depreciation hit is vastly less.

I guess you really won’t like the fact that I live with my mom, spend my entire welfare check on crack, and have taken to being a male prostitute to buy parts for my 4Runner

Hahaha... funny question. You buy the Runner to keep from going broke and spend your extra cash on mods. If you've ever owned a Dodge, you spend all your money keeping it rolling until the next expected break-down. BTW, I've never owned a Chrysler product.

Meh, your not wrong. But, my Dodge diesel can also tow the equivalent to 3 4runners. But I have thrown a significant amount of money at it for it to do what it does. It is good to have more than one tool in your tool box.

Yes indeed you have to make money in this life for a living, but the problem is, that most of the times you will get into such a sh1tty job, which u will hate, and u will have no other chances rather than staying there, either way ul just starve to death. But, you have to be strong, you have to be smart, I recommend you finding a best app to sell stuff and stat ur own business, yes it will be hard, but who said life is gonna be easy? through hardness u achieve achievements, through effort u achieve succes. Go on, good luck there.

funny, I am now retired and 'Rothing' all mine and my wife's retirement savings, so the government will get NONE of it. I don't mind some of the social programs but the waste (military and non military) is excessive.

Old thread, but OK...

Income level doesn't matter one iota. What you do with (how you allocate) your income is what it's all about.

I personally know DINKs (Double Income No Kids) making $400K/yr that are so cash poor and broke that a small disturbance in their cash flow can cause major panic.

I also know single earner two-children families doing very well on far less than $100K/yr.

It doesn’t matter about price but if you want to know I have a 99 runner and have to pay for repairs gas and insurance. I’m making 1000 a month and have room for upgrades

It's at the LEAST about how much you hang on to as how much you make. I know more weathy people who were frugal, than ones who were extravagant.
Wish congress would understand the value of a buck instead of the value of wasting a buck.
You reap what you sew!!!!! Be responsible for it.

Lot of opinions in here lol. I make a fair amount of money for my age and area of the country, and feel very comfortable buying a used runner up to around $12K.
