235/85R16 is about 32x9. I've been thinking about getting them for my tow rig when the 245/75R16s wear out.
The Q78-15 and Q78-16 Super Swampers (basically 35x11) has always been one of my favorites. This is not my rig, just one from the internet:

Love my tall skinnies. These are 255/85r16, I'll probably go to a 33x10.5 for my next tire. They're cheaper.

narrower, but taller, so they won't fit without mods. i'm fine with the 30s, and have zero interest in altering the suspension or cutting fenders.

Not my 4Runner. Hell, they're not even Toyotas. But here's two of my old Heeps. If I could find a tall and skinny Swamper TSL that would fit my 4Runner, they'd be on the top of my list right now.
YJ on Q78 TSLs
XJ on 33x10.50x15 TSL Radials (not tall but skinny)

So as the time to get some new meats grows closer I've been shopping around and paying more attention to tire sizes. The tires I have now are my third set of 285/75/16's. Once I realized the time was coming for new tires I was pretty much set on 285/75/16 Durratracs but the more I see guys (mostly on the forum) with the 255/85's I really love the look of them. However as I've stated I've never really strayed from the path of the 285/75's I mean hell I've only been driving for 6 or so years.
Anyway, to the point, I go to school in oklahoma and do most of my wheeling here and back home in the great state. Nothings really to challenging it's pretty flat down here, minimal rock crawling, lots of clay and sand and I'm not really about mud so I avoid it as much as I can and I've been having some real trouble lately having the sand and clay cake up on me.
I've read through this thread and the one on tacomaworld but I still can't decide which would be my better option 285/75 or 255/85. It's my daily driver and it's 2wd, most of the offroad driving it gets is in the river bottom down here in norman. Any input would be appreciated even if the recommendation isn't for one of the two sizes I'm thinking of. thanks boys sorry for the novel
