560 lb.-ft. torque in Titan diesel

Holy DEF fluid, wouldn't this be nice in a 4R?

Reports saying 2015 Nissan Titan with the 5.0-liter V8 Cummins turbo diesel produces a maximum of 275 hp and a 560 lb-ft of torque. This confirms what an engineer told me in the fall (though the alcohol that night made me mix up the torque number).

you do realize there is already a thread in the OT forum about the new nissan cummins already, albeit the frontier.

Toyota's 4.5l v8 biturbo diesel puts out 260hp and 480ft/lb.. You just won't see it in the US any time ever.

Supposedly, part of the reason for the Tundra's new taller hood in the '14 is to allow room for the Cummins V8 diesel. I haven't heard anything concrete, though. I'm afraid that Tundra and Tacoma sharing the Texas plant will mean that there isn't much incentive to explore the niche markets of diesel if they can keep the plant running full tilt w/ their current offerings. The Tundra even reduced offerings with the '14 model as far as cab and bed configurations.

Not happening for the 4Runner. A diesel 4Runner, particularly a V8, is a niche of a niche of a niche (high power, diesel, V8, BOF SUV). I think part of the reason that Nissan is diving into diesel is that they are so desperate to improve sales that it makes sense to explore markets where there is no competition. They moved like 30k Titans last year? I don't think they have the resale or reliability reputation that helps move Tundras and Tacomas, so people that actually consider a non-domestic truck tend to go for the safe bet.

I rather have a smaller diesel that is more efficient then that huge beast. Plus proper Cummins diesels should be inlines, and not in a V configuration.
