I added another Toyota to the fleet today..

Well, I was torn, I have my wife's 2013 SR5, my 2010 TE, my wife's RX300 and my 98 SR5 (both winter vehicles for our new hoe in the rust belt), my 1987 SR5, my 1983 SR5 Truck, but I had nothing to pull our car hauler with.....i pulled it once with my 98, but its a 11k lbs. trailer and my 4runner does not even like to pull it empty.

We do not take out 5th gens out in the winter, to protect them from salt, and everything we have is v6 or smaller.

So I bought this 2002 tundra to pull the trailer with.

If I would have bought a new tundra, I would be in the same boat as I am with my 5th gens (my panties in a bunch over the hell salt on the roads here).

so I found a single owner, 4x4 tundra, no body rust, and in the last 8k miles it has had the frame replaced under a Toyota recall, it has had water pump, timing belt, spark plugs, drive belt, 2 new coil packs, transmission flush, front and rear diff fluid changed and a few other minor services all done at Toyota with records.

I think this is a win all the way around for me.

So if anyone wants a 1999 RX300 AWD that just had Timing belt, water pump, cam seals, spark plugs, and tranny flush done 4k ago... let me know. Im giving my wife my 3rd gen and making the tundra my DD.

if you ever want to sell the Tundra let me know.

Someday I'll come over and look at the fleet. No end in sight for snow and ice as of yet...

My dad drives an 05 Tundra with the same body style, I love it! It gets work done and doesn't feel overly huge like the new ones, even though they are almost the same dimensions. If you get bored long travel it, they make bauss prerunners

This one will just be a truck to pull the trailer and regular DD duties. Living up here in OH I need the 4wd from time to time, so ditching the 4x4 to make a pre runner would ruin this trucks purpose, but I do want to build a long travel pre-runner one day, I'm thinking SCed Tacoma.

Thanks we are about to downsize, and get rid of 3 or 4 of them. We are going to get rid of a bunch of extra baggage, get a smaller house, and spend a few months a year on the road...

Being out on the road a couple of months out of the year sounds damn fine. Whats the plan? Camping, wheeling, and expos?

This year we are going to do a small trip west and end up at the summit in CO, it will be a practice run. Next summer we are planning a trip up to Dead Horse AK in the arctic circle and then all the way down to Novia Scotia.

we have a ton of planning to do between now and then, and plenty of stuff to build to prepare.

Those sound like some killer plans. I'd love to plan out a trip west and head towards Summit and follow it up with some time at Moab.

The Dead horse trip sounds fun! You gonna do that in the TE or SR5?

So far the plan is to take both trucks and my expo trailer. If we find a couple that like the outdoors and overland and want to come with us on the trip, we may take just one. But there are places in Alaska that we want to visit that require a few river crossing and some back roads (even by Alaskan standards), and I don't feel that going it alone in a single vehicle would be a wise choice.
