3VZE head gasket advice "PLEASE which side is up"

Here I go again removing my heads for the 3rd time in less than 2 months.
1st time Blown head gasket- Total Engine rebuild.
2nd time last last thursday- machine shop totally screwed up my valve adjustments. Fixed it for free. "100 bucks worth of gaskets and new head bolts yea right free)
THIS TIME: I read the instructions for these head gasket I purchased from another vendor and guess what? the instructions put them upside down and now I have cooling issues because according to other forums out there the instructions are wrong.

Here is the real question I need clarification on, On the 3vze head gaskets does the metal portion go against the cylinder head or the block?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

since i haven't had any responses on my question I am wondering if I put this in the wrong thread category? If so how do I move it to the area best fit for the 3VZE engine?

Ask this over in the "Classics" area and include some pics if you aren't done already.

When I rebuilt my 3.0, seems the HG would only align with all the water ports and all the holes one way.

Some pics would help...
