Arizona-Trail Cleanup-Table Mesa-March 1

For those of you in Arizona, please join us at Table Mesa off the I-17 just south of Black Canyon City for a massive trail cleanup effort on Sunday March 1st. This event is being put on by Tread Lightly! who was a major contributor to the 4 Peaks Cleanup I helped organized back in November.

Here is the details that was sent out by Arizona Game & Fish Dept:

Table Mesa Cleanup Project... Want to help?
March 1, 2015 8:00 A.M. - 2:00 P.M.
The area is popular with recreational target shooters, off-highway vehicle riders, equestrians, mountain bikers, hikers, and others because it's close to metro Phoenix. Unfortunately, this area is also prone to illegal dumping, littering, and debris that needs to be cleaned up. As public agency budgets fade, volunteerism becomes even more important.

Please bring water, work gloves, hat, sunscreen, trash pinchers, buckets and wear long pants and sturdy shoes. 4WD and OHV vehicles are useful.
Contact: [email protected] with any questions or concerns.

Directions: The Table Mesa Recreation Area is located off I-17 and Table Mesa Road. Head west on Table Mesa Road, then north on the frontage road. Follow signs posted at the end of the pavement. Volunteers will also be on site providing more information and directions. http://goo.gl/maps/XyVhl

Please register for this event at:

I found that these links don't play well with Firefox, but I was able to successfully register by using Internet Explorer and Chrome

Hope to see some of you out there!

yes - from the highway to the staging area is a well maintained dirt road. Many of the spots that need attention are 2wd accessible as well.

There will be plenty of us out there with open seats if you want to jump in with one of us to head to some of the 4wd only accessible areas to get some wheelin in too while we're out there

Bump!

after the cleanup I will be leading a trial run somewhere in the Table Mesa area. Which tail is really dependent on who wants to come and the capability of the rigs. I don't want to get anyone in over their head. I'm thinking of a few different runs:

If you have the new Wells booK (4x4 and SUV Books : Guide to Arizona Backroads & 4WD Trails (2nd Edition) Cover Price: $34.95) I'm thinking either:

trail 36: Black Canyon City Overlook - rated moderate
trail 41: New River - which is Table Mesa Rd on the east side of the 17; taking that east until it deal ends at Camp Creek Rd. Then depending on who comes and which direction everyone needs to go at the end - we can go north on Camp Creek Rd to Bloody Basin then head west back to the 17, or we can head south, through 7 Springs Rec area, stop at the Sears-Kay Ruins | Arizona Ruins & Petroglyphs and take Cave Creek Rd to Pricenss/Pima to the 101.

Please let me know if you are interested in coming to the cleanup, interested in the trail run and which trails you prefer.

Hope to see you there!
