Mangoose

Hello All,

I'm a new member who has three Toyota MR2s (and no 4Runners). Unfortunately, the MR2 Spyder community is *MUCH* smaller. So I figured I'd ask here.

I was considering buying myself a Mangoose and had a few questions:

1) I've seen a ton of different cheap Chinese Mangooses. Some seem to be for other cars, some for Toyotas, some for Toyotas and other cars. How are these different from a standard OBD2<->BlueTooth adapter (or from each other)?

2) Are there any particular models to get or to stay away from? Is there hardware that works with multiple (car) manufacturers?

3) Ditto with the software? All of it seems rather questionable. I've seen some that says works on 32-bit OSes, some that says XP only, and some that says it'll work on XP and Win 7. Also seen some people claim the XP only software will work in XP-mode of Win 7.... I don't have an XP box, only Win 7/64 and Win 8.1/64 -- although I presume i could run a virtual box.

4) Do all these units support reprogramming the immobilizer in the ECU, or only some, or none?

Any good info for deciding what I need would be helpful. Thanks!
