Impressed with goal zero
Just got back from a week long beach trip and was wondering how my electrical setup would work with my dometic cfx 50 to keep it running the whole time. Was hoping I wouldn't have to unplug the fridge or bring the battery in to charge.
Setup- goal zero yeti 1400, goal zero boulder 100 mounted on roof, dometic cfx 50 with insulation jacket. I bought the 12v charger for the yeti (it was hard to come by) and plugged it in the back for when the truck was on. I bought the 12v adapter to plug the dometic into the yeti.
Worked great! Battery never got below 75% and mostly was in the 80s in the morning and up to 100% with the panel and a little driving. Some days I wasnt in and out of the fridge too much but went much better than I thought.
Future plans...I already bought new solar panel mounts off of amazon so they are lower profile. I initially used the goal zero mounts but were too tall for daily use. Biggest thing I need to figure out how to wire the solar panel more permanently. I lowered the back window a smidge and the wire came in that way which worked great and I could still open the hatch.
I did see the new video by @swellrunner and I had actually messaged him a week or two ago and he had mentioned coming in through the grommet. Still not 100% set on that but need to figure out something. I don't leave my fridge in all the time, only for trips and as needed.
Just wanted to share my experience. Appreciate any input and happy to answer any other questions.
