2016 Land Cruiser

https://www.yahoo.com/autos/s/2016-t...083000597.html

This is possibly our first look at an updated version of Toyota’s Land Cruiser, which in its current ‘200 Series’ form has been on the market since the 2008 model year. We’ll have to wait several more years until an all-new Land Cruiser is launched but in the meantime it looks like the hardy off-roader will receive some substantial visual updates.

These leaked images, posted to the Instagram account of hamad1two3, are purported to be scans of a Japanese brochure for an updated version of the Land Cruiser, which we’ll likely see introduced for the 2016 model year. The current-generation Land Cruiser’s last update was for the 2013 model year.

It appears the vehicle is set to receive revised lights at both ends as well as some new bumpers and a splashing of chrome in the front grille. It also appears that the body panels have been massaged to give a boxier look. Finally, a new alloy wheel design has been added.

For the interior, the brochure reveals new designs for the instrument cluster and center console. We’re also expecting more premium touches to bring the vehicle’s specifications closer to that of its Lexus LX 570 cousin. Remember, the starting price on a Land Cruiser is now up above $80k, which is roughly what you have to pay for the Lexus version.

Here in the U.S., the latest Land Cruiser should continue with a sole V-8 option. The 5.7-liter V-8 is currently rated at 381 horsepower and 401 pound-feet of torque, and we expect this updated model to feature similar numbers.

I saw a I different article yesterday about this that went into more detail about all the different gadgets.

here is the link : Is This The Refreshed 2016 Toyota Land Cruiser With New Off-Road Tech?

only thing I see is that the fog lights/bodywork tie in are the same as the new Tacoma as on this land cruiser which could mean we could see it on the tundra/4runner maybe.

Toyota's design guys have been going in all the wrong directions lately. Do they actually have focus groups responding positively to these changes? They're hideous and getting hideouser (is too a word). The new Tundras are particularly nasty, and that truck was beautiful.

It was always a huge downgrade to the 100 IMO. It just doesn't feel like it is worth 80k+. The 3UR was never as refined as the 2UZ to me and the interior is poor as hell. They don't feel special anymore. More like a bloated Highlander with a far tougher suspension and drivetrain.

I think part of the problem is that we only get the "Super Luxury" LC200's in the US, I am pretty sure that overseas there is a more "base" model that comes with optional 4.5l V8 Diesel and is a bit more toned down for "duty work." I'm not entirely sure I agree with the comment about the 3UR-FE not being as refine, the throttle tip-in is very sensitive which makes this power engine feel more raw at low RPMs, but it drives fairly smooth once you get used to the sensitivity of the throttle. The suspension and drivetrain are more set-up for luxury which hampers performance unfortunately, in this case it takes a lot from the Lexus "lets just make everything from the suspension to the drivetrain feel soggy to be 'luxury.'"

I'd like to drive a built LC200 as I think the platform has serious potentional, it's just a ton of work to rip out all the luxury garbage to make it worth the effort in my opinion (why I chose the 4Runner over a LC100/LX470/GX470/GX460)

If I'm gonna drop $90k on an off-road vehicle, I'll just buy a sportsmobile, name it "The SASquatch" and be done with it.

If I ever get an LC it'll be a 60 Series or an 80 Series.

Wow that thing is ugly. Luxury is one thing but driving an ugly vehicle that you paid 90K for makes you deserve a kick in the "jimmy"

The 100 series was the end of the "true" land cruisers. Built tough and would go anywhere. This thing looks like a city pimped Sequoia that would break down in 10 minutes in harsh conditions that land cruisers are known to pull through.
