RTT mattress wet in the morning?

The last few times I have also in my RTT, which is an ARB Kakatu tent, I wake up in the morning and my mattress is wet and I have dew in my tent? I sleep with all my windows open and it did not rain any of those nights. Any ideas?

Was it in a humid environment? Were you sleeping next to or near a body of water? Humidity raises your chances of condensation, as does sleeping close to a river or lake. Also fog could do it as well.

Do you have an anti-condensation mat under your mattress? Regardless of how many windows I leave open, how hot or cold it is outside, or how humid it is I ALWAYS have condensation build up under my mattress. Luckily, with my anti-condensation mat it does not touch my mattress, and is never an issue.

Stop drinking so much water before you go to bed.

It was very foggy one of the morning. I do not have an anti condensation mat. Where can I get one for the ARB tents?

I am not sure if ARB makes one, they probably do. You could call and ask.

The Kakadu is the same dimensions as the CVT Shasta so you could order a mat from Bobby at CVT and it'd work just fine. I had to trim mine a little to fit as well as I wanted it, but it works well. CVT Mats

A friend of mine has a ruggedized Tepui Autana and his mat is built in... Not sure if you could order one from Tepui. You could call and ask about a mat for the Kukenam, as it also has your same dimensions. The mat in my friend's Autana is much better constructed and more durable, but like I said, my CVT works perfectly. Tepui Mats

Just buy one from another RTT manufacturer. You may have to cut it to fit. Most are made in the same factory in China anyways.

Fog must of been the reason Brian! Mine was pretty wet on Sunday morning as well. I reckon I need to get one of those mats too.

Just ordered one! Thanks for the help guys. I'm gonna give the mat a shot and just plan for moisture if it's foggy or what not. One other question tho. What do you guys do with your dogs while sleeping in your RTT? I have a 80 pound black lab that id rather not put in my RTT.

I have the larger TJM tent and I have the lower Annex. Which is perfect for him, his bed, some gear and another person to sleep down there.

I have a 77 pound Greyhound, but he curls up into a tiny ball.

Do you leave your anti condensation pad in your tent at all times? Thanks for all the info also!

My Scottish Terrier sleeps up in the tent with my wife and I. My GSP has her dog bed in the back of the 4Runner and sleeps in there. I have been considering the purchase of an annex for the pups to sleep in... A friend of mine did that last summer and it worked really well, I thought.

Yep. I have only taken it out to trim it to fit better. When I sleep in it in sub freezing temps the mat gets WET so I will pat it down with a towel before I fold it up.
