It's been shipped. Check the GB thread, some of the east coast guys already have them.

I'll be sure to post pics.

Glad to see this post and hope to see a dedicated section for Overlanding on here.

I'm actually transitioning my rig to be more for overlanding. I don't have to do much but I'm thinking I might bring it down a little.

As I get older the long camping trek's sound much more appealing than the go out and romp and get shaken like a martini on rocks.

Just purchased a Garmin GPSMAP 64ST for the expeditons and hikes. Should be a nice addition. Going to be getting my "cockpit" a little better adjusted for comm's and accessibility.

I am building my 4Runner to be a dedicated offroad and overland vehicle, got a few cars to drive so the 4Runner will be our weekend or long trip vehicle. Check out my Instagram at yota_overlanders for more information on the build

Jetblack3s love the setup in the back.

Hey so this is my first post. Go easy on my please. What do you guys think will be good first modifications to do on my Runner. I was thinking of getting a Toytec lift first but one of my friends said I should get armour first like rocksliders. Just want to know what you guys think i should do.

The factory skids aren't awful, especially if you have a trail which has a better fuel tank skid than the SR5.

I would do sliders then lift, and that's plenty unless you are going over major rocks

Thank you. And no I do not have the trail. Yeah the rock sliders aren't that expensive either for weld on ones. The bolt on ones are a bit harder to find and more expensive. I already decided that i will be building bumpers instead of buying them due to the cost. I'm working on a budget but I just love overlanding and camping so much

Question for you all.

Anyone looked at taking a short server rack and a bunch of rack mounted drawers?

Looks like I could do something like this:

https://www.amazon.com/StarTech-com-...ct_top?ie=UTF8

Add a few of these: Loadmaster® Rackmount Drawers

Alternately, pick up some rails from ebay for cheap and find or have made some aluminum drawers to attach them to. Save a chunk that way I think.

I've done a bit of looking, and not seen anyone else that has attempted it. Maybe there's a good reason for that, or maybe no one has thought of it.

What do you all think?

Thanks. It's just an idea for now, but I'm thinking it might just work for me.

There are some great cargo builds on here that I have seen but haven't seen the direction you are going but that is what I was looking for ATT. If you go that route, I'd be cautious on weight but more importantly ...love to see it!
Yeah, I've looked and hadn't seen anyone attempt it-it's why I'm wondering if there's something I'm missing.

What did you end up with? A couple ARB drawers will run me ~1200 on a group buy, and this looks like it could be under 800 for 3-4 smaller drawers.

Subbing and posting to also give my vote here. This forum is in desperate need of a overlanding and camping section!. Just read this thread, it's all over the place and shows how we need a dedicated section for getting outside.

With that said, My 4rnr is being built towards overlanding and so far I have skid plates, KO2's, and sliders to protect it while exploring or for the rogue shopping cart wanting to dent it . I do not know if I will ever lift it but that is an option for the future. I am studying for the HAM exam but do not have any interior mods yet. I am weighing all options towards weight savings as these rigs can get very heavy with all the available mods. So I am taking my time and really thinking the mods through before pulling the trigger.

Currently I am completely revamping my camp setup. I have a Kodiak canvas tent and although it is a great tent and highly recommended it is by no means quick to set up or convenient for moving from spot to spot a lot.

So lets get this camping/overlanding section going here on this forum please so we can all post in an appropriate, like minded section of the forum.

I've looked at their stuff, and it looks great, but the price tag is a bit more than I'm willing to pay currently.

Anyone have a link to a guide for installing some sort of base I can then mount things too? I've seen pics (looks like heavy plywood is the thing to use), but would love some instructions.

Going to get a better picture but got my Garmin 64ST installed last night and couldn't resist snagging a picture. Will get a better day time picture soon.

Once we get an overlanding thread I will start a "What does everyone's cockpit look like?" thread

So I posted about this trip earlier in this thread, but not it seems that this is actually coming to fruition more quickly than I anticipated! So I have some questions for you folks that I would love to hear some input on. For reference so people don't have to search back for it, I am planning a 14 day, 3500 mile trip from CT up through Canada, along the Trans Labrador Highway, over to Newfoundland, down to Nova Scotia, and back to CT. Three rigs, two weeks, and a shitload of adventure

First and foremost, what kind of preventative maintenance should I look at before the trip? I have a CV I need to replace, and I am planning on inspecting and/or cleaning my tie rods, bearings, CVs, brakes, UCAs, and suspension. Will also likely get completely new fluids all around to be safe.

Next, anyone have any favorite recipes or resources for good meals to make on the road. We will likely do simple stuff for breakfast, but we'd like to leave with some pre-prepped meals and ideas on other meals we can easily make in the field.

And finally, what is your number one thing you wouldn't leave home without when doing multi-day trips? We have been planning as much as possible, and our packing list is extensive with food, camping gear, recovery gear, jerry cans, medical kits, etc etc. Anything you can't live without??
