5speed 4x4 3rd Gen 4Runner 2JZ SWAP?!
So I am just trying to get a few of my facts straight so I can begin to plan out a budget for a build.
I own a 240,XXX 1997 Toyota 4runner SR5 that comes with the selective, non-locking, 4 wheel drive stick next to my hockey stick of a shifter (the trusty 5 speed). I believe the trans code is r150f, similar to the transmission in the Supra r154.
Feel free to correct me where I'm wrong!
I want a 2JZ in the 4Runner to add some flavor to my tailpipe noises....and to keep it Toyota. I know I could spend the same ridiculous amount of money on this 2J, on an LS, and have way more power. Butt **** that!!
My theory is, 2jz motor on r154 bellhousing will bolt right up to my 5speed transmission so no cutting holes in my floor????????
HALP!

Not sure... did a quick google search and saw some threads on the Tacoma forums but nothing that seemed definitive.
I know my brother in law threw a 2JZ in a 1st Gen Tacoma. But that was long ago and he long sold that thing, so I doubt he remembers the details.

Is not cutting holes a deal killer in this swap?

Wouldn't the location of the holes for the transmission matter on where the engine is mounted also? I'd look into that. Those Toyota inline 6's are long motors compared to the 5VZ.

I've got plenty room in the engine bay to keep the original trans where it is. I just wanna know if they will bolt together

Supra ownership has me interested in more straight 6's. Sooner or later I'm probably gonna swap a 2JZGTE into my 3rd gen. Having the R150 trans shifted backward for the 3RZ should mean even more space. I've got a 1JZ bell in the garage plus an R150F... curious how the 1J bell housing and R150 input shaft length coincide. My R150 has a shortened input shaft which may or may not be a good thing.
Also been thinking of doing a 7MGTE in the 1st gen. 4 cylinders are just so gutless.

Input shaft is important. Bolt that 2jz bell housing to your 150f and let's hope it fits!
