Removing the front drive shaft will make the truck RWD (2WD) only, but as far as that creating greater towing capacity, that's questionable.
There's other things you could do to defeat the 4WD but that would be a good way.
The fact that the owner doesn't know what else may have been done to make it 2WD raises some red flags.
So if you're interested in this truck does that mean you really want a 2WD truck?
