RTT and Roof Rack Comparison tables

As it seems the conversation on this site often returns to various Roof tops tents and various rack options -- I spent a little time putting these simple charts together that might help some folks make up their minds.

Thanks for putting this together! Skycamp looks interesting! I wonder how many mid-western americans will fit?

Nice info! I'm assuming "height added" is "height added above roof" and not "height added above OEM rack". And even that might not be precise, as I believe those numbers are the total height of the rack itself. The foot sits down inside a well and the roof is curved, so the height above the center of the roof would be less than those numbers.

My only comments are that it would be nice to have OEM dimensions/capacities for comparison, and to add a few more options. The Gobi Ranger is taller and the Baja Utility (flat) is shorter than the options you have listed. I park in a somewhat low-roofed garage at work, so when I get a rack the height is critical.

Someone else made this list awhile back comparing tents, and man, were they thorough! I think it was deleted, but I managed to have saved a copy in my google drive. Hope this helps out others looking at tent options.

You're welcome to add to this. I put it together based on my own personal needs that seem often shared by many folks on this site.

The data on all items is based on OEM from the manufacturers sites -- you can do adjustments on your own. If anything, I rounded up to nearest inch merely to make table easier to read.

Ranger not listed because I was looking for shortest height added.

Baja UT flat rack is actually 4"-5" from top of roof to top of rack, according to their site. Not sure where you read it's shorter. Baja Rack: racks_list

I understand what you posted and why. You were simply sharing info. My comments weren't meant to be critical of that information in any way whatsoever.

I was thinking that this could be the base information for a sticky or added to the existing Modifications, Write-Ups, Quick Links, and FAQ's sticky like the consolidated bumper and slider threads. In that situation, more information would be beneficial.

And you are right about the Baja UTility racks. I looked at the "measurements", which only includes the height of the basket itself without the feet. Kindof a worthless number for a flat rack (1.5"). But directly under that is a "top of roof to top of rack" number. It's 4" for the UT and 7.75 for the standard basket.
