Thanks for the good discussion. Not stirring the pot, just talking.

LOL..."didn't mean to climb onto the soapbox" but didn't hesitate for a second. Yes owning a hammer means you'll smash more fingers..yes owning a gun means that you're placing a weapon within your personal space that OTHER PEOPLE can also gain access to. The stupidity from you gun guys is barely palpable at times..hard on's for violence and wet dreams about getting a chance to "shoot a bad guy" as far as the eye can see. Ya'll are hilarious

Thanks for showing us all who you are... now you can be avoided and ignored.
Interestingly, the conversation and tone in this thread is completely civil and polite until you show up, spouting ignorance, stirring the pot, and providing no useful dialogue.
Warmest regards...

Maybe in your rush to editorialize, you missed this part:
"Just owning any tool, without proficiency and an absolute understanding of the responsibility encompassed in the law, use and ownership of the tool is simply reckless.
You make reckless and false assumptions saying:
"hard on's for violence and wet dreams about getting a chance to "shoot a bad guy" as far as the eye can see. Ya'll are hilarious"
...Without knowing a person at all. Perhaps you've had a bad experience in life that's sadly led you to this erroneous conclusion...
You should seek to educate yourself rather than hurl insults across the internet on a forum.
Perhaps you've simply had a bad day... I'll give you the benefit of the doubt you refuse to give to others.
Cheers...

You're correct that it's just a tool. A tool in the hands of good people is used for good things... correct things. The same, inanimate object, a tool, in the hands of a bad person can be used for bad things.
Only a poor craftsman blames his tools... Mankind, nature is the variable, not the tool.

Oh of course, I should've remembered to put "respectfully" in front of it before I touted off and "showed everyone who I am" LOL..is that how it works?

I don't need to "know a person" to see clearly through their ridiculous, editorialized, false equivalency argument/opinion. You were the first person to "respectfully" jump into the thread with a bunch of your own opinions and no actual input eh? Maybe try rereading that...and yes, owning a hammer, and inserting that object into your personal space, increases the risk that you'll be beaten to death with your own hammer..in case that concept is also beyond your realm of understanding..I'm still beyond confused by the fire extinguisher example..apparently ya'll have fire extinguishers that burn people in Florida haha.

No, it went south about the time I started getting told I'm illogical. That WAS a personal attack. But I did hold back because I know that on this site, people who speak up in favor of reasonable gun legislation tend to get flamed and banned.

Bodie, who was it that called you illogical?
It wasn't me, as our exchange was civil, polite and professional.

risk
so does the mere act of owning and driving a car not increase your risk of an accident? does off-roading not increase your chance of getting stuck, simply by doing it. does skiing not increase our odds of being injured on the slopes vs those that stay home? OF COURSE IT DOES. so yes the data is clear owning a gun, having one in your home vastly increases your chances of being shot with a gun, even your own!! Part of being an adult is being allowed to and capable of assessing risk. I own 9 firearms and do not leave my home EVER, not even to go to the dump or walk my dog without one. I am very aware of the risks and have made a choice. A choice that is mine to make.

Instillation
Finally got the rack in and going to install it. Looks like it's too wide from the factory and has to ben cut down about 4". Was this the case with y'all's as well? I ordered the SBR-2 from Cabbalas with a gift card I had and the total price was still under $100.

Finally got it all installed and turned out very nicely! Even with an AR and Mossy 500 mounted, they are out of sight in the rearview mirror. Now to get to go to the range and put it to use! Trying to upload some pics but can't get the uploader to cooperate with me.

Do you use only the one bolt that goes into the hangers on both sides? If so, does it not want to rotate with weight of a loaded gun on one side or the other? Just curious how solid it is with a gun on one side or the other?

Correct. Just one bolt on each side into that coat hanger spot. Really no issues with it turning at all. Even with a fair amount of weight on the side, it hold steady.

I drive with the rear seats folded down and when I need a long gun with me, I jam it between the front passenger seat and the folded down back row. It's really hard to see, especially when I toss a fleece over it.
