Valve cover and tube seal question

Ok I don’t have the luxury of being a newb but this is my first 5vzfe I pulled the covers and replaced the VC gaskets trying to reinstall everything but I’m having some trouble , it seems the tube seals are keeping me from getting the valve covers all the way down. Do the tubes protrude through the inner most part of the seal and I’m just not pushing it Dow hard enoughf, or do they seat in the recess part of the seal ? I feel pretty strongly that the seal should slide over the tubes

I do not have an answer for you, but you will probably get an answer much quicker if you post this in the 3rd Gen subforum. There are some guys in there that really know these 5vz motors really well.
