Truck Flooded, time for a new one?

I love cars and always have. My first vehicle was a Ford Taurus SHO 5-MT and I've have cool and interesting cars ever since. Ford Mustang GT, Acura TL 6-MT, Infiniti QX and BMW M4 (Euro delivery) are just a few of the interesting vehicles I've found myself in over the last 20 years.

But the best of the bunch is the vehicle that can be found on nearly every street corner in this country - The Toyota 4Runner. I bought my first 4Runner new in 2007 and enjoyed it for 4 before (stupidly) selling it for something else. Why? I can't answer that question, I've just admitted to myself it was a mistake and vowed to never make that promise again. Then 3 years ago I was blessed with the opportunity to buy my friends 2006 T4R Sport V-8. IMO the best model in the 4th gen lineup by a long shot. Oh did I love that truck. I put a lift on it, then tires, then replaced every bulb, then did some engine work then some interior improvements. It was the perfect second vehicle to my VW GTI and for 3 blissful months I had them both. Then Harvey Happened.

Yes, it flooded. Even with the lift and tires the water got too high and my poor truck sat in the much and filth for 10 days before the waters started to recede. I took the tires off and sold it to a Toyota tech who did get it running again, but I'm sure the gremlins in that thing will last forever.

Anyway it's taken my family a full year to recover and we're at the point where I can start to think of what to replace it with. Obviously I want another T4R but which one? I could get a new one now (Off Road Premium preferred) or wait a year (or two?) to get the 6th gen. Heck I have even thought about getting back into a 4th gen and putting the tires I had on the old one onto the new one but finding a good V8 is nearly impossible. I have scoured the internet for details about the next model but like you have come up mostly empty. Here are some pictures from the flood, I lost everything I owned in that hurricane but the loss that hurts the most comes from that truck. I feel heartbroken and the only solution to that is to replace it with another. I look forward to learning about Gen 6 with all of you in the year ahead. Is it better to have loved and lost than to never have loved at all?

TBD.

Help me out here, what is the significance of 27.5"? I can guess it's what the T4R can wade through but I could be wrong. We had 40" of sitting water for 10 days. Mother Nature is a Crazy B.

Yup, that’s what Toyota quotes as fording depth for Toyota BOF SUVs.

Hope things work out for you. My daughter was shocked by your pics. You've obviously been through a tough time. Better days ahead, right? Good luck with your search, and post a pic once the new rig is there. Cheers!
