The allure of diesel escapes me too. Not sure how many people buy a T4R to tow with, although some might.

Pretty cool service, but still only 170hp.
Doesn't make much sense when you can add a supercharger instead and save $15-$25k.

I had 2 (sort of). Both of my Surfs were 3.0 I-4 engines and they had some pep, but the V6s in the states ran rings around them. Good mpgs, though.

The idea is cool, I wish we had the diesel option here.
But in reality, who is going to spend $25k-$30k on a motor swap in a 10-15 year old 4Runner? (Thinking about my own 4th gen)
I love my 4Runner, and if the engine were to go tomorrow I’d probably want to rebuild or replace it and keep the 4Runner rather than go with something new. Hell, if this diesel swap was $10k I’d probably consider it, but $25k?!
I’d be surprised if there is much of a market for it at that price.

The website by the OP talks about the Toyota diesels, they’d be direct replacements. The way the hilux and land cruiser prados come in other places around the world.
Cool idea to have a Toyota diesel, just not $25k cool.
