Nice. Can't wait to see some output pics.
Will these be a direct swap for those that already have standard squadron kits in their fog light pockets?

The function of the SAE was built directly into the reflector inside the light, so thats where the extra cost comes from. They had basically redesign the whole light to make it fit in the guidelines

FINALLY they make an SAE fog. too many bastards running the "wide cornering" version on the road. f*ck those guys.
Looking to replace my Rigid DOT fogs since Baja Designs runs a warmer led. Hoping the beam pattern is just as wide. Rigid has a 52 degree angle but the current non-DOT/SAE wide cornering squadron has a 42 degree angle. hopefully they improved their width. =)
Few questions;
Do you think there will be an "R" version for the round front bezel?
When is the last day to join this pre-order?

Thanks for the reply. I guess I am clueless when it comes to what SAE means... can you explain what you mean by building it directly into the reflector... building what?

"SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) is a world wide organization that sets automotive standards for the manufacturing, testing and design of car lightings. To be SAE approved, all headlights and tail lights must past certain standards, test procedures and material test; set by SAE to guide the quality of the product."
So in this case, the color temperature and beam pattern have to be to a certain spec so it can be considered an SAE legal light. I just took this pic to give you an understanding. this is a rigid SAE 20". the SAE lights are very focused so you can use them on road without blinding other drivers.

SAE is the Society of Automotive Engineers and is an international standardizing body. Most vehicle equipment laws are adopted from or incorporate SAE standards.
These new Baja Designs lights meet the SAE J583 standard which is what the US DOT basis its rule for automotive lighting off of. In almost all cases, when using SAE spec lighting in the proper location, you are 100% street legal.
