People ask me why do you go to all the trouble to change your own oil today, my only answer is i do not trust others to do it.

Amen to that brother! And for someone like me who's not a mechanic, it feels good to do the basic maintenance whenever I can.

It kind of sounds like a lot of people are quick to say lawyer up while it sounds like the dealer is trying to do something to make it right.
Hopefully this didn't have to get ugly for you, rising costs of products do not go down if the manufacturer is having to pay lawyers and such.
Of course maybe I'm wrong and you need to get involved with a big legal situation to make things right but it does sound like the dealer has accepted responsibility and is trying to work with you.
And yeah, doing the work yourself can save some headaches at times.
