Help: How do i mount a rotopax to the gobi roof rack mesh?

And also, if i want to mount 2 of them (a 2 gallon fuel and a 2 gallon water) then does the rotopax "2-3-4" gallon extension work? It seems confusing based on how it looks.

I found this:

That link is for the plate you would use to sandwich something with the rotopax mount. With the gobi rack you could just use some big fender washers behind the mesh to mount the rotopax mount.

You also need the rotopax backing plate ($9.99 ea on the rotopax site). I had to get longer nuts & bolts for mounting on my Baja Rack. If you are stacking the containers, you need the extensions.

Universal mount plate from amazon works good, but WAY over priced

Home Depot or any hardware store is your friend when it comes to mounting solutions. Save your cash and DIY.

I have 2 mounts with bolts, washers and the locking nuts and they have held for 2+ years no problem.
I carry 2 two gallon gas Rotopax and 2 two gallon water containers when we hit the trails.
That's 4 gallons gas and 4 gallons water for a total of 8 gallons. It's pretty heavy and these have held up to a lot of wheeling.

The pics below are the base mounts, then I put the extensions on the Rotopax mounts to fit all the containers.

View from under the rack. Suggestion, to mount these get a long ratcheting wrench .. like this one: Husky 100-Position Double Ratcheting Wrench Set SAE (6-Piece)-H100DRW6PCSAE - The Home Depot
so you can reach the nuts on the bottom side and then just crank down on them. Unless you have really small hands it's impossible to work under the rack between the roof of the 4runner and the bottom of the rack.

This dude does an ok job of demonstrating some of the extension and mounting solutions.
YouTube

Edit:
Not the greatest angle to see the mounts, but you can get an idea of how far 2 packs on top of each other sticks up above the rack.

Excellent man thanks! BTW what is the trash bag brand you have installed? And how do you like the ARB awning?

It's a Trasharoo:
About
https://www.amazon.com/Trasharoo-Spa...g%2C184&sr=1-6

It's the black version, and they also come in green, tan/sand. etc.
If you do a search for reviews and feedback you'll see that the black really fades to a more purple color over time from the sun.
They fit really well on Jeeps and I just rigged it to fit on the gobi laddder.
I have used it to carry firewood and other stuff, but would recommend against that as after just a few uses some holes have started to appear from the wear and tear of the wood and other non trash items. So I would suggest just carrying trash in bags and maybe a camp toilet in it.

Re: ARB Awning - Love it! It's a lot cheaper than some of those "van life" ones that folks mount on their Sprinters etc. which have the auto deploy feature. It can be a little cumbersome to set up solo, but it's possible.
I'm in the market for the awning room attachment soon so I can stop carrying one of my tents and just use the room as a sleeper etc.
Here's a video with some info:

and

Pro tip: When you have it set up at the ideal height for your vehicle make some small etchings (like with a Dremel, or just a knife) right at the retraction point of the tube... so when you twist and pull out the legs and top support stands you'll know right out where you need to set it and can fine tune it after that. This has saved me from totally pulling out the whole leg and having to feed it back in a number of times.
