Kept my 2006 Nissan Frontier added a 2019 T4R.
Debated a Tacoma but the larger interior of the T4R won out.

I went from a 08 dbl cab Tundra to a 16 4Runner Trail. Honestly I wanted a 4Runner when I got the Tundra but I was shopping used and got a great deal on the Tundra. At the time it was perfect for us. We were doing a bunch of major landscaping and home reno stuff so the bed was used a lot. After the birth of my first kid I started looking at going crew cab but happened to notice the Trail in the magnetic grey on the lot (exact model and color I wanted years ago). After test driving it my wife talked me into it. It’s way easier around town and like others have said I’m not getting called to help people move or pick up appliances. The only time I miss the bed is when I go kayak fishing 3-4 times a year. It was a lot easier putting the kayaks in the bed of the truck than the roof of the 4Runner. I don’t regret moving from truck to 4Runner at all. My only regret is still running stock tires this long after I bought it.

Went from a Tacoma to 4Runner, but kept both too. It's nice having a truck when you need one.

I talked my fiance into a 2002 taco PreRunner, 3.4L V6. When we relocated to the PNW, I considered a 2 dr long bed Taco, but bought a 2007 SE V6 . We still have both in the garage. happy.

no regrets at all...but my situation is a little different.

i bought an 03 F150 new...and have maintained it for all this time. I love that truck, i say i LOVE that truck. it got me and my father from DC to New Orleans for his fathers funeral, its made me completely independent for my motorcycle racing endeavors, its even made the DC to Conn. trip to transport my dear old granny to and from during the holidays several times. The only thing its needed in all of those years is a full tune-up, and a front brake disk replacement -- owner error for letting those get so ragged.

When i wanted something new, i wanted a GX at first. Something with a little luxury in it. Something to keep me styled and comfortable. but the more i looked, the more i realized im not a Lexus kinda guy, so a T4R was the obvious next play. I looked at older TLCs but i couldnt make the jump against a new Runner (my mistake, i didnt know enough really and should have bought the Cruiser).

anyway, body on frame, smaller and more maneuverable, as solid as a bank vault, rear wheel drive on top of 4x4...it fit right in.

As far as my pick up, it gets driven once or twice a week for just running around, for picking up dirty things, for carrying oddly shaped whatever. ill drive it until it dies AND cant be patched back together.

if you can make it work with two, i would say do it. you never know when you'll need a full, open, pick up bed to do whatever...and not want to dirty up a Runners interior.

just my 2 cents

An SUV can make a lot of sense for many people. Still, a truck bed is nice for some uses. Off-road I prefer a 4runner.

went from a gmc sierra crew cab 4x4 to a 4runner and the only thing I miss is the 355hp, the bed on the truck wouldnt haul much so I needed to get a trailer anyway which I will use with the 4runner.

Went from 17 Tacoma trd pro to 4runner. Rarely used the truck bed. For me the 4runner is more practical.

Went from a 2002 Tundra to 2007 4Runner. I loved the truck but I had the access cab and the rear seats are at a 90 degree angle so my toddler son had trouble sleeping in the car seat on long trips and later he had a bad habit of kicking the back of passenger seat which drove my wife crazy.

I miss the truck’s 8 cyl engine and the bed for moves and stuff but in the long run, the 4Runner is a much better vehicle for family life. Nearly everything I used to haul can fit in my 4Runner. The only bummer is I have to buy bagged mulch instead of having a bulldozer drop a load in the bed for a fraction of the cost.

That's OK we can still add our thoughts here for future T4R buyers.

I drove my Frontier the other day. Drives like brick compared to my 4Runner.

I went from an F-150 to a 4Runner and I don't regret it at all. The 4Runner is superior in almost every way. I miss having a V8, the pickup was roomier, and the utility of a bed is unmatched. But overall I am happy.
