I'm in haha. I really like it. We all know it would be cheaper to do all this aftermarket. Like you said though, I think Toyota/Lexus has a nice OEM setup here.

It'd be nice if you could get wheels, suspension lift, tires, sliders, and armor from the dealer with a warranty. Experience shows that Toyota port mechanics are retards who can't properly install a suspension, tho.

I wouldn't. Not only did they keep the ugly front they kept how low it is and what appears to be a pretty bad departure angle. That bumper looks like a good skid plate and winch holder but not much else.
Then on the sliders, they admit to putting them on lower than they could have. Whuh?
All b/c some guy in marketing said it has to look close to a bone stock GX,

I'd love to have a GX but I want it to be more usable than that.

I also wouldn't want Icon with KDSS, personally.

To be honest I only looked at the photo and said “I’ll take It”

I’m sure if I got into the details I can find plenty of things to not like, but I rather see this happening than not.

I'm pretty sure that corporate DEMANDED that they keep the ugly ass Lexus predator grille, because there are good aftermarket bumpers available for the Prado.

Never going to happen. Aussie tanks are not available on US vehicles.

My critical review, don't take it too seriously, just some random thoughts as I watched it,

The GX can't fit a 275/70/18 tire in the spare location (it's smaller there due to the frame being shorter than a 4Runner), so Lexus would not ever offer that tire size. And the AWD system wouldn't like mismatched tire heights. So unless Lexus puts the tire on the rear door like the Prado, I wouldn't expect those tires.

I said this on the land cruiser forum and it was kinda controversial - but please don't think you can just go through gates like the guy in the video does. You can't just go around southern Montana where that was filmed and camp on private cattle ranches. Also FWIW - you also generally drive over the cattle guard rather than open the gate. And gates aren't closed with a random piece of rope like the video suggests. That part is not realistic at all. It's rare on any public land that it would be acceptable to just drive off into some grassy area and setup camp. On private land - sure, but then who's going around with a $100k "overland" setup and camping on a ranch alone? The ranch owners go home at night. And they don't let people randomly go camp on them. If you did what's portrayed in the video on my family's ranch, you'd be explaining to the sheriff why he shouldn't impound your vehicle.

In addition cordless chainsaws are WAY better for trail duty in almost every instance - no gas, no oily mess, no smell, etc. I have both a Stihl and a Dewalt chainsaw. I wouldn't take the Stihl unless I were planning to build bridges (which incidentally my off road club did build the bridges on the trails where that video was shot), so I would take a real saw for that.

Those are my critical thoughts.

Otherwise - looks like a pretty sick GX. I'm not a fan of all the farkle bolted on. But I do like the winch bumper and think it fits nicely with the GX design. Personally I'd be more inclined to do something like the Prado 150 "adventure pack", which comes with an OEM winch bumper, rear mounted tire, OEM snorkel, and auxiliary fuel tank. Plus rear locker and crawl/mts. I do think it's cool that Lexus participated in the marketing. I don't know if Lexus paid for much of it, provided the vehicle, or what. Most of this is very similar to XO because I think it was mostly the same crew who set it up. I don't totally know why they went with ICON instead of Fox suspension from the TRD Pro. I'd guess they wanted more lift, but any production version would use the FOX suspension.

I don't know how an off road model fits with the Lexus plastics. They really need to go back toward Prado high clearance plastics much like what Toyota did in the 4Runner. I'd guess a stock 4Runner still has higher rockers and bumpers.

The best thing that Lexus could do to make it more capable was missed. That is cutting weight. The GX is just so heavy. I don't think cutting 1000lbs is impossible and it would make an enormous difference in capability. A stock GX is only 200lb lighter than a 4x4 Tahoe. Lexus/Toyota needs to start considering weight as part of the formula.

Ultimately - I'd drive it. It would need some more plastic cutting and I'd get rid of the drawers and stuff out of the back, but the rest of the setup looks pretty great for camping and family hauler duty to me.
