I was talking to my Wife about getting another car, what to buy? Gas is so high, do we get a little car or what? While talking I looked in my records for filling up the 4Runner. In January 7th of 2007, gas was $1.98. Gas has been around $4 now for a few months. That means it doubled in about 13 months. No wonder we are all freaking out. It seems much longer than that. Of course car compaines cannot change their product over night. I wonder what the head designers at Toyota are planning for the new 4Runner??? I wonder what I am planning for my next car??? Times, they do change quickly.

YEE HAW!!! Thas jus' what we need - yeah, thas what I'm talkin' 'bout! They know much better how to spend our money than we do ourselves or locally!
But the best is yet to come. It ain't the Patriot Act that bothers me - it's controls and regulations on my behavior in the name of saving the planet and public healthcare that really worries me most! :bugeye:

I really think once I start school full time I'll end up getting a faggio or something similar. I'll just make sure I have a full face helmet and cover up my tats so no one recognizes me

That looks nothing like a beater at all. You got a good deal on a good car but when I do end up buying a car I'll be going for something real nice with moderate fuel economy. I'm hoping to see more diesels hit the market despite the higher fuel cost. Of course keeping the current runner is a must!

I get the newspaper daily and look at the automotive classifides
@ 5:00 am every morning and after three months of looking this baby showed up.The ad said 2000 Celica GT 78Kmi, body good shape but needs engine work,$2800 obo.So I called and left a message, the girl called back and she told me she took it to the Toyota dealer for a CEL and they quoted her $1300 for repairs for a bad catalyc converter and some other issues. She decided to sell
it as is and I was the first one there and could not believe my eye's when the garage door opened. It started right up and it drve ok with a little hesitation. So i bought it as is and drove it home started looking at the Celica sites for a solution to the problem and it said to clean the MAF sensor and reset the CEL by unhooking the battery gnd for a while,so i did this changed the oil and air filter and it came back to life with no more CEL or hesitation after over 1k mi so far.It has all new tires and almost a year left on inspection.I was already offered $ 6000 from a used car dealer but decided to keep it for a while.I should not loose money even after a couple of years !!!!

first off......IF?!?!?! Here in Md we've been at or above $5/gal for months now.
secondly, i answered number B...my truth is i own a sport touring motorcycle which i ride 3-4 times to week to commute to work, from April to November. And since that bike gets 38-45mpg depending on speed, that substitutes for the 4Runner during the warmer months of the year here in the mid atlantic.
It is what it is...thankfully i do have a solid, well paying job that affords me the ability to keep driving what i want. Plus, my 2014 T4R has been paid off since 2019...so its not like ive got to make payments, pay full-insurance premiums, AND buy gas...

You do realize this topic is not a new topic, it's from 2007/2008.

Yes, a blast for the past! But goes to show there really isn't anything "new under the sun!"
And same for me as far as everything paid off - in this evolving world train-wreck situation, I think one of the best things is to have all debt paid off, so when various turmoils come, things can (hopefully) be weathered more effectively.
But another interesting thing is that if you take into consideration inflation and income, believe it or not $5 a gallon is not a much different impact than what gas was in the 1970s . . . (of course that may not be much comfort to those who's budgets are extremely tight already)

Your best bet is to go over and post this in the 3rd gen section, since you have a 2000. They should be in the best position to help you.
