Stupid Q...upsizing tires and auto tranny behavior

When upsizing a tire (from 30.5 to 31.5”), does that change transmission shift points? Is there stress on transmission with this upsizing?

Those that have upsized, are you concerned that the increased weight of the tire (if there is any) will shorten life of your shocks?

Thanks in advance.

Small change in tire size like that may not even noticeably affect your speedo.

Huge change in tire size will necessitate a regear.

The size different you are changing to should not cause any issues.

So all of your questions the answer is yes but going up 1 inch should be very minimal.

Now as far as the benefits of going to a 275 70 r17 tire the speedometer is actually more accurate with those size tires than with factory size.

Well, i am going from 265/60/18 to 265/65/18. 275/65/18 = rubbing on my stock GX suspension.

Keep the tire size change under 3 inches and you should have no problems. No larger than 33 on stock gearing for a street rig. Getting some 17 inch 4runner wheels will help with the rubbing. The 4runner has a different offset.
