I'd prefer one with just a NA V6. The 2.3L Ecoboost makes ridiculous power but the valves foul up really bad even with an oil catch can.

I'm waiting for the 2.7. I had a 16 f150 and I forget the difference one has port injection other direct. The newer one in 2018 plus does not foul up. Catch cans are snake oil and not needed on fords

Im sure its been mentioned, but the Kia Telluride SX.
Sexy looking SUV.

Telluride is nice. I considered that before buying the Highlander. Telluride is way overpriced for what it is though. You can get a higher end vehicle for the same money.

With all the safety features, AWD, luxury add-ons such as Nappa Leather, and 100k/10yr warranty....it’s hard to beat for under $50K.

First, with rare exception there's no such thing as a man's car. I'm a giant bearded dude with tattoos and had a blast with Miatas when I got out of motorcycles. People love to call them girl cars, gay cars, hairdresser cars, etc. Guess what, they're stupid fun to drive and constantly destroy at every auto cross event. If you're choosing a vehicle to feel good about yourself and not for the joy of what that vehicle offers I think you're going to eventually be disappointed. Maybe I'm wrong though.
Second, it may sound like a mom car but my wife drives a 16 Hyundai Tucson and I like it. If you're not doing any offroad but still want an SUV I think it's worth a look. You can get one loaded out with the limited package for like $27k. I think it's an attractive vehicle. And, that powertrain warranty is a major attraction for me. It handles decently well on road and is a cat in the snow. I know some folks don't like Hyundai but this is our second one and we've had good experiences. The value is a big factor though. You're saving $8-10k over Toyota and Honda and the warranty obviates longevity concerns if you're not keeping forever.
That Edge ST is sharp. My daily driver is a Focus ST and while I'm bummed they're killing it off I'm interested in the Edge treatment.

In 2007 my first daughter was born. Needed a safe SUV on a budget so bought a brand new 2007 Kia Sportage 2.7 V6 AWD for $20,000 OTD My wife drove that truck until June of 2019 when we traded it in with 113K miles on it and bought a 2019 Highlander. Sure the Sportage didn't really have any bells or whistles and wasn't anything fancy but it was extremely reliable. It also had a center diff lock and was a beast in the snow. All I ever did to it is normal maintenance and towards the end I had to put an engine flex pipe on it and 2 door lock actuators. I would have zero issue buying another Kia / Hyundai vehicle as our last one was great to us. Regular oil changes, diffs and transmission serviced every year, power steering flush at about 100K Never leaked a drop of anything, never an issue with anything major other than tappet tick at about 100K which is apparently common for the 2.7 At that time it was due for plugs so I yanked the valve covers, cams, replaced all the tappets, and that solved that problem. The 2.7 does seem to have an issue with carbon no matter how well you maintain them but for 20K I have absolutely nothing negative to say about it.

While not an F-Pace owner, I drove many of them while my F-Type R was in the shop (which was way too often for a new car).
Nice rig, but Jag quality... Oh boy. And out of warranty, no way. Wouldn't trust it off road either.
Matter-of-fact I traded my R for my 4runner. Could've had any SUV, went Toyota. Who needs the hassle?

Jag is owned by Ford. They were junk before and they are worse now. Thanks but no thanks.

Jag hasn't been owned by Ford in a long time. Tata motors now... They own Range Rover too.

Slightly better. I would still never personally want to own one.

Same. We had an Elantra and an XJ when my daughter was born. I wanted to trade the Elantra for one of those Hybrid Sonatas so we'd get a little more more but all the MPGs. My wife wanted an SUV and really liked the Carribean Blue Tucson Limited. That's what we've got. I have zero gripes about it. She HAAAAAATES the dual clutch transmission. She's constantly on about it and won't believe anyone that it's just a different type of transmission. She's had Hyundai engineers look at it, replace pumps, do software updates, etc. I have stopped suggesting that it may actually be fine and that it's just how the product is made. Now I just support her in her DCT vendetta.

I know it's a sample of one, but I just got rid of my 2004 WJ for a 2016 4Runner last month. I had it since 2006 and it had 219K on the odo. It was the 4.0 liter. That engine was pretty solid. Never spent a ton of money on it or big-ticket items, but the small stuff was piling up and it was time to do it before something major tanked. To be honest, I'm kinda missing it.

Our 04 WJ was great as well. Got the 4R because it was more like the WJ than the WKII was. Love the 4R and don't regret gettimg it at all, but yeah... there are times I miss the WJ too.
In fact, I'm perplexed by all the hate for Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge/Ram products. We've had 1 Chrysler, 2 Dodge (Ram) trucks, and 3 Jeeps - none of them ever gave us any problems. Actually, the only "bad" car we ever had was a 99 Grand Prix GTP. Engine and trans were solid, the rest of the car had a bunch of constant, dumb, irritating problems. Dumped it before factory warranty expired.
Anyway, back to topic. If I woke up tomorrow and all 4Runners had mysteriously disappeared from Earth, I'd probably look at the Volvo XC 90 T6. From what I've read and what I've seen (never rode in or drove one), they look like they'd be about as comfortable of a long distance highway cruiser as you can get. Cost a bit more than a 4R though...

And you would be wrong! Surprisingly, from all the reviews i read, the XC90 main flaw (besides questionable reliability) is its STIFF ride on the highway. Adaptive suspension option does help some but they are rather firm ride either way.
But, like you, i love the style both outside and inside of the XC. It is just so different (and fresh) from Japanese design.
