As we get older, my wife has a harder time climbing up into my 4R, so the next SUV would probably be one of the following: Highlander, Lexus RX 350,Infiniti QX60, or Hyundai Palisade? In that order!!!

GX460 or GX470...mainly for the V8 that Toyota took out after the 4th gen 4Runner. My sister had a GX470 and I had a chance to drive it a little bit then fell in love with it.

I drove a suzuki jimmy in Indonesia and had a blast going through the rain forest. I wouldn't mind having one if they sold them in the USA.

Probably the GX 460. Might do this when my 18 TRD Pro lease is up. Want the v8.

Oh, I don't know. 22 years old with 192,000 trouble-free miles and still going strong. Bought it new, and couldn't part with it for the pittance the dealer offered when we bought the 4Runner in 2016. Still use it regularly. The new GC's are a totally different design, so probably not comparable. But, I remember hearing the same stuff about Jeeps when we bought it back then.

Picture from 9/24/19. Still sporting its original paint.

Not a Jeep fan necessarily, but I have to say there still are lots of this gen of Cherokee on the roads here in central Ohio. Maybe they got something right back then...?

Your jeep is a rare breed now - I think xj till 01 and yj? Till 03 where the reliable years. The newer stuff is a different layout all around. The xj design was basically unchanged for a few decades

Definitely will be looking into the new Rivian all electric SUV when it's released in 2020. They have big investments from Ford, and Amazon just ordered 10K all electric trucks from them. That thing has 4 electric motors, one on each wheel!

Our Grand Cherokee is a '98 which was the last year of the first generation (ZJ). It has the 5.2 liter V8 (318 CID), the basic design of which dates back to the 1960's. So they probably had the bugs pretty well worked out by then. I recall the early years of the next generation (WJ) having more problems.

Back to the thread's topic, as long as I continue to need the off-road capabilities of the 4Runner, I'd probably look to the Wrangler (overpriced as it may be) or the new Bronco. If I didn't need the off-road capabilities, I'd probably go for an Audi SQ5.
