I'm running 285 wild peaks with just over 2" lift all around. doesn't look stupid at all. fills the wheel well quite nicely IMHO.
It really doesn't sound like you need 34" tires for what you do...

I looked at those tires briefly. I do understand what you’re saying, but why not jump up a size to fill it more nicely... yes 315 is excessive, I’m off the 315 train and although 285s would get the job done off-road and crawling, I don’t see why not. I have 285s now, I’m not going the 315 route as planned so I need a happy medium. Once I get the lift on and preload where I want it, I can decide from there if I want to up the tire size a little.

I think this may come as a surprise to some, but many people favor something slightly skinner depending on the type of off-road. Taller tire is what provides the “fill” you are looking for. Taller does not always need to be wider.

Without going into heavy detail and theory about why, I prefer a 255 from my own experiences off-road. Tires like that can be had plenty tall, and increase of track width can come from either rims or spacers if that was a concern.

Not that I am trying to convince you to do something different, just food for thought & don’t forget about your spare tire.
