What's up forum,
I'm looking to replace one of the blanks in my 4th gen with a usb socket switch. And I'm afraid most people don't realize they need to buy a quality socket if they want their devices to charge quickly.
I have a OnePlus 5 phone and despite it being 2 years old, it charges insanely fast, even by today's standards. That's because the special charging brick that comes with it outputs 5V at 4amps = 20W. Newer phones like the Galaxy Note 10 come with a charger that outputs 15V at 3amps = 45W which is insane.
I don't want to buy a cheap power socket so can someone check me on this cause I'm no electrician? If I were to get one of these usb power sockets like the one pictured below, which outputs 5V at 2.1amps PER PLUG RECEPTACLE, doesn't that mean I'll get 10.5W? Which means charging my OnePlus 5 would take about twice as long as I'm used to since 10.5W is almost half of the 20W I'm used to.
Does anyone know of a socket that actually outputs 4amps or more per receptacle? Or if my thinking here is incorrect, can someone please chime in and help me understand?
Thank you very much.
