Power USB Rocker Switch Options?

What's up forum,

I'm looking to replace one of the blanks in my 4th gen with a usb socket switch. And I'm afraid most people don't realize they need to buy a quality socket if they want their devices to charge quickly.

I have a OnePlus 5 phone and despite it being 2 years old, it charges insanely fast, even by today's standards. That's because the special charging brick that comes with it outputs 5V at 4amps = 20W. Newer phones like the Galaxy Note 10 come with a charger that outputs 15V at 3amps = 45W which is insane.

I don't want to buy a cheap power socket so can someone check me on this cause I'm no electrician? If I were to get one of these usb power sockets like the one pictured below, which outputs 5V at 2.1amps PER PLUG RECEPTACLE, doesn't that mean I'll get 10.5W? Which means charging my OnePlus 5 would take about twice as long as I'm used to since 10.5W is almost half of the 20W I'm used to.

Does anyone know of a socket that actually outputs 4amps or more per receptacle? Or if my thinking here is incorrect, can someone please chime in and help me understand?

Thank you very much.

You are correct on your power(watt) calculation. Power(P)=I*V(current x voltage)

Thank you for confirming.

So is there some type of limitation when the socket is being fed by a vehicle 12v instead of a home 120v source? Like is that the reason all these sockets being sold on Amazon cant provide higher wattage outputs? The max I'm finding is 5V at 2.4amps which is 12 watts.

Seems like its limited by the actual USB technology itself.

Are you comparing these to the OnePlus Dash charger? If so, I wouldn't.

Using a quality USB cable will be the biggest help with maximizing charging rate. Seriously, two almost identical cables and one may charge at 1.3A while another charges at 500mA.

I make sure any charger I use is at least 2A as these are plentiful now and don't really have an issue with the rate. Check what your device is actually charging at by using the Android app Ampere. This app has helped me weed out bunk cables and charging bricks several times.

If you really wanted the dash charging rates you could always Frankenstein a Dash car charger into a rocker switch. I think you'll be fine with 2A though.
