Return to Stock or Leave Modified to sell

Long Time Lurker…..first real post.

I bought my 2016 SR5 Premium w/ 3rd row 2.5 years ago after researching it to death on here. Bought it and did the basics mods, Lift & Level, tires/wheels, LED interior/Exterior lighting….real basic stuff. After much debate, I’ve decided to sell it due to the overall cost of fuel. I’m driving about 500 miles a week and think it’s time to buy a commuter car. Long story short…it’s ready for new Tires, I’m considering returning the truck to stock(pull the rear spacers and drop the Bilstein’s back to Level). My logic is this…..The buyer pool (outside of this site) for a modified 4Runner is much smaller than the buyer pool for a bone stock truck. Thoughts?

I’m sure there will be plenty of opinions about keeping the truck and buying a commuter, however, I only have one parking space at my place and don’t want to store the truck offsite.

Do what I did. Put it up as is on this site and OfferUp and the like. If no takers.... then start de-modding it to appeal to the masses.

I would return to stock. I would not be likely to buy a modded 4Runner. When I sell mine I'll have a significant amount of time to strip it back down to stock, but that's what I'd plan on doing. I may leave the front locker in - because of how much work it is to remove. I'll also leave the trailer brake controller and any other item like that which is just too much work to remove. Otherwise, It'll go back to completely stock OEM suspension, stock skid plates, new OEM bumpers, etc.

In your case - with just a small lift - I'd sell it as is. Lots of buyers are happy to have some small mods done. I personally get more concerned when I see more heavily modded vehicles. I'm rarely thinking about the mods - but more concerned with what kind of wear and tear has happened to this vehicle. So I tend to look for the soccer mom vehicle. Not the one that has been owned by someone like myself.

I don’t think you will have a shortage of buyers… lifted or stock.

I personally wouldn’t remove the modifications solely on the fact that I don’t think it’s worth my time or money.

If you had high end parts… 2.5” Fox/King shocks, long travel, or other expensive modifications, I would remove it only because the value of the parts will never be recovered in resale on the truck, but for a spacer and basic shocks, just leave it be.

Sounds like consensus is to leave it as it now. I like that idea...wasn't looking forward to taking it back apart but would/will if it becomes necessary. Thanks for the input.

Leave as is. If the mods are tasteful then buyers usually don't mind. I sold my Wrangler about two months ago with lift, wheels/tires, and front bumper. It was gone within 2 days of listing it to another state.

It's not really even modded. Just leave it and sell it
