What is this part

Not sure if it is but it looks like what I would call a rubber spring insulator. I used to see them lying around at the junkyard a lot.

Since you were washing your car when you found it, perhaps it's not from the car at all and instead came off something else you were using? Like part of the garden hose nozzle for example?
