Best State for New Purchase?
Ello All,
I've finally pinched my pennies long enough that I can buy either a 2020 classic Silver TRD ORP or Army Green TRDP and was wondering if anyone has any tips for the best state to buy a new vehicle in?
I currently live in the bay area and good lord they mark everything up way too much. Thank you for helping out a noob and if anyone has advice on getting one rig vs. the other- please let me know.
I'm planning on taking fire roads, doing a little mudding, going up in the snow, doing some cross country drives and hauling motorcycles if that helps you make a recommendation.

If you look through the gigantic "prices paid" thread, it looks like the best deals are generally in the middle of the country, not the coasts. Before buying my ORP, I remember reading quite a few members scoring greats deals in midwest states.
How much are people paying for the NEW 4Runner?

Why would how you plan to use the 4Runner have any bearing on where people would recommend you buy it?

1) The best price is the best price, but then again if you buy a truck in IA and live in CA, how will you get it to you? That's a cost as well. And I don't know CA laws, but in LA you pay the taxes upon registration, so no matter where I buy my vehicles, I pay LA tax not the tax from the state of sale.
2) From someone who drives neither an ORP nor PRO, I would say get the silver ORP, but it's not like there aren't hundreds, if not thousands, of threads on this topic already, so you'll have trouble finding various opinions on which is better and why.
Happy hunting!

i would recommend the ORP. You’re probably going to pay low 50s OTD for the green Pro. I paid 39 otd for my Off Road Premium, and after hitting up various sales I’ll end up at ~42k for mine with a Bilstein 6112/5160 (pre-2019 Pro suspension) setup, Pro wheels, new all terrain tires, TRD skidplate and front bumper garnish. All the same capability as the PRO for ~10k less as long as the badge doesn’t matter to you.

I would pay heed to some of the advise given - travel time + $$$ to the Mid-West or for that matter...anywhere, + registration fees(maybe dual in some cases). If would wonder if NoCal prices are worse than some place like Bakersfield further south, but still in Cali.
I don't know - don't live in Cali - just throwin' it out.

Keep an eye on Dolan Toyota in Reno. Closest out of state dealer to you in the bay area. https://www.dolanrenotoyota.com
Alternatively, you can take US50 over to Carson City. Taxes are lower. Dick Campani’s Carson City Toyota. Carson City Toyota

Larry Miller or Camelback in the Phoenix area (talk to Tony Martinez at Larry Miller). I got mine at Larry Miller in Peoria but Camelback was a good price too.
