Hello Brick Sprickly. I didn't delete your post, we have physically tested the rack on the 4Runner and we have extensive experience with the basket rack of the FJ Cruiser that we have sold over 10 years, we will post pictures of people standing on the basket rack.

I'm guess it was a few days back. The entire forum was down for a good part of the day. When it came back up it wiped out all posts going back to early morning.

This was not an option until I started thinking about the leaking that could be possible with aftermarket roof racks. Also the noise that can be added by a roof rack. You can just take out the basket if its too loud. Baja Rack is still an option for sure.

Review from Daniel.

¨Rack installed. Very easy to do and I really like the profile of the basket – you have to look really close to even know one is there. Will clean the 4Runner before I install the ladder.

Thanks for producing such a great product!

If you are looking for a great awning to fit the TRD Pro factory rack, this is a great option from CVT tents. The awning if 55" long and you can use our Awning Mount to attach it.

Opinions? On Baja TRD Pro drop in basket?

I just got my TRD Pro, and I’m considering the Baja drop in rack. After reading all the posts what’s everyone’s opinion of the rack now that you’ve had it for a few months?
Figures I missed the group buy so I’m going to be paying the $700+ price. Is it worth it? Other threads say to go with the gobi at this cost.

I’m curious too. How much functionality does this drop-in basket really add if it just sits the the same footprint of the weird factory rack?

In all honesty, either keep the pro rack as is (if you don't expect or need to haul much on it), or go all out and install a 3/4 or full size rack. The factory Pro rack is already small capacity, and the drop in Baja basket is even smaller than that. You'll be lucky to get more and a suitcase or two in there. Also, the $700 price point it pretty high considering it's a small basket -$400 would be more appropriate considering you can get a full size Prinsu for $900.

It's actually a smaller footprint than the factory Pro rack since it sits inside it. I think if anything you could get the same effect by simply installing a wind fairing on the factory rack.

I just installed mine today. Merry Christmas to me.
I will say that the BajaRack is very sturdy and well made. Beautiful welding, no flaw powder coating etc. Also very sturdy when installed, tying the factory side bars together.
As some have said the factory rack is only "rated" for about 100 lbs. Personally I am convinced that is lawyer speak, along with the weak aluminum and plastic stock cross rails. WIth the new basket rack that whole issue is gone. Installed it is solid as a rock.
Is it worth it?? Depends on what you want to do with it. I would not consider, roof top tents, jerry cans, spare tires, etc. on this setup. Not because of some "load limit"...I think that is too much weight up high on a lifted vehicle regardless of the make.
Wifey and I plan to use it for Max Trac storage, pelican boxes, dry bag storage etc.
Plenty of secure storage for us and what we do. YMMV.
