I will say that the BajaRack is very sturdy and well made. Beautiful welding, no flaw powder coating etc. Also very sturdy when installed, tying the factory side bars together.
As some have said the factory rack is only "rated" for about 100 lbs. Personally I am convinced that is lawyer speak, along with the weak aluminum and plastic stock cross rails. WIth the new basket rack that whole issue is gone. Installed it is solid as a rock.
Is it worth it?? Depends on what you want to do with it. I would not consider, roof top tents, jerry cans, spare tires, etc. on this setup. Not because of some "load limit"...I think that is too much weight up high on a lifted vehicle regardless of the make.
Wifey and I plan to use it for Max Trac storage, pelican boxes, dry bag storage etc.
Plenty of secure storage for us and what we do. YMMV.

I’m considering one of these Baja racks as I wait for delivery of my Pro in the next week or two. Are you aware of any way to install cross bars on it? I can’t seem to find anything. I’d like to be able to put skis on the roof, and it’s a little harder without cross bars. I’m aware that Baja makes mounting feet that attach to the basket floor that should work with a ski/cargo box, but I’m not sure how well that system works.

Just off the top of my head, you can toss the "factory" cross bars in the trash.
I tried to install one after I bolted down the basket, and it was a no go.
That said, the bottom of the basket is seriously stout. 1/2 inch (+-) welded tubing cross bars and center bar. I am already, thinking about a couple of "sandwiched" 5051 aluminum plates with Quick fists to hold a short shovel.
Depending on how long the box you want to use is, it will most likely rest on the front of the basket and the rear factory bar.
good luck!

I have the same needs/questions, the basket would be good for Summer, but for Winter I need ski racks or cargo box.
On the BajaRack site they have this accessory of Yakima/Thule Mounts Yakima & Thule Accessory Mounts (4 pcs) – Bajarack Adventure Equipment
But, I sent in an inquiry to see if they will work with this basket and have not gotten a response, so I am still waiting to buy the basket.
@ BajaRack
Maybe you can help me out, is there a way to use these mounts with the basket and have a cargo box sit on top? Thanks!

I emailed Baja, and they told me these mounts will work with the basket. I’m still hesitant though. These plus the basket comes to a pretty steep price for a cargo space that’s ultimately even smaller than the stock rack. The stock rack is actually working fine for me at this point, so I’m not in any hurry to upgrade. If I were going to spend that kind of money I’d probably just go for a Sherpa rack at this point.

Good to know!
I am still a little worried the mounts are not tall enough to clear the fairing for a box? The box will definitely go beyond the basket towards the front of the truck.
The instruction say to mount to the bottom of the basket, but the instructions show it mounting to the top of a Yakima rack.
Maybe there is a better solution with an additional cross bar?

That was my concern too. And if I recall correctly, the specs listed on the Baja website don’t make it clear — one more reason I’m not into the overall design. They told me none of their crossbar options will fit the basket. And based on the way the basket nestles next to the factory side rails, it would seem difficult to attach third party crossbars.

Thanks for discussion, I do want the basket, I just do not want to remove it for ski racks and cargo boxes, there has to be a solution....
@ BajaRack
can you help with this discussion - will the mounts work for a longer cargo box or ski racks that go beyond the front of the wind fairing?
TIA

Hello, you can use accessory mounts SKU BR-YTFAM-4-0 Yakima & Thule Accessory Mounts (4 pcs), this will be installed on the inside of the 4Runner G5 TRD PRO OEM Basket Rack, this will help to install a cargo box that go beyond the front of the wind deflector, the accessory will clear the side rails, front and back of the rack.
