Craigslist is definitely a mixed bag. It's great when you finally get a normal, nice person. Renews my faith in the site when that happens. No matter what I'm selling on CL, it's usually 3 weird inquiries to every 1 normal one.

I’ve found that Facebook and Offer-Up are generally more reliable and better places to sell. There is at least some level of vetting and if they PM you about a sale you can find a little background info about the buyer before responding.

trying to sell my car to buy my 4R was a nightmare. Unless you actually have a perfect car/item, you'll never get anywhere near what you want for it. I had a pretty unique/cool car, but it had a salvage title and a torn roof. The salvage title was due to an accident 11 years ago and it had no problems because of it. Similar clean title examples are selling for $7-8k, so I put it up for $5500 and after two months of trying to negotiate with people I eventually sold it for $4k after spending $300 on new tires. (I also spent $2k on a brand new transmission 1yr ago, but of course that didn't matter to anybody. just that stupid accident 11 years ago...) So frustrating. Never buying a salvage title car again if i plan on selling it later.

I absolutely hate craigslist, lots of people that want everything for nothing, I don’t bother selling anything above $5000 on there, but super cheap jalopies sell quick, I sold a wrecked Subaru on there in less than a day for about 10 times what the junk yard would have given me

The craigslist weirdos can work in your favor however, when I go to buy something and the seller realizes I’m not an indecisive cheapskate it is typically much easier to make a deal
